I’ve currently got a rental truck for the next 6 months and the curtains are really stiff, wouldn’t normally care but would make my job a lot easier if they moved more freely. so what’s the best thing to use? WD40, Grease, Silicone…
thanks

Any idea if the runners have nylon wheels?
Grease is a no no as it attracts all sorts of other grime and after making them nice to slide for the first day, they will soon clog up.
I remember being told the nylon type should not be lubricated.
Not much help I know, sorry.
I’ve got a feeling they are nylon, was planning to go down to the yard tomorrow morning to try and sort it out while there’s no trucks moving around. Just want to make it the best I can for the next 6 months till I get a company vehicle
Try candle wax
Try using silicone spray or Teflon spray as used on bike chains, these are designed not to clog up and are safe with nylon and plastics
Lard.
This is NOT what I thought it was going to be about
Ok will give the silicone a try as I’ve got a whole case of it. I’m not sure I want to know what you thought sarge! Haha
As has been said, grease is a big no-no, and WD40 can also attract grunge over time. Try ringing the hire company perhaps?
Already suggested that to my boss but said it would maybe easier to try sorting it myself first
Furniture polish! (Seriously) - Use a little and wipe away any excess
I got given a brand new set of curtains when I started in July last year. They have the nylon runners. Each runner has had a quick squirt of WD40 each week, if I park on a hill and release the tensioner, then they can easily chase me down the side of the wagon of their own accord.
Remember, WD40 is only a temporary lubricant, it dries out quickly, its main function is water displacement hence " WD" so it will work for a very short while but will need constant respraying to be effective.
I am pretty sure furniture polish has silicone in it but not a lot.
The silicone and teflon spray also has water repellent properties so should help with water ingress

Agree, aerosol furniture wax (Pledge, etc) is the very best thing for sticky curtain runners.
Hence the weekly part. Keeps it all ship shape. I hate anything that doesn’t work as efficiently as it can.
I’m the same F-reds, makes for an easier life!

its their lorry wilko not yours, call in when you can and let them sort it ,dont start messing with the curtains its not your job ,its supposed to go back as it was hired out
Don’t wipe your knob on them. Prevention is better than cure.
You know from experience then happysack?

And that is the difference between a driver and a steering wheel attendant.
