gogs2006:
Great photos!!! I really like the Monte Carlo Volvo F16
What became of Chris Harriot (owner driver of the blue airbrushed Strato)■■?
The Strato was featured in Trucking in the early 90s…Chris and the Strato were also in a tv programme alongside Roy Gill (diana Daf XF) and Graham Cordiner around 1998
Just been watching it last night and thought the same thing ,so has Chris surfaced yet ?
Not sure if I should be posting these here, if you think they should be in the photos section then say so…anyway here’s a selection of photos taken back in the late '80s at Shepton Mallett…also there was one at Exeter in the early '90s.
Excellent photos, we were showing another Roadcommander2 at that show that year, white with the stripes in metalic green, belonged HeavyHaul (chelmsford) LTD, it was a good show that year, think we got highly commended at that one.
Great pictures. The three blue Scania toplines on the left of third picture were Blagdon packaging, they used to do really well on the trophies there.
Any chance you would have a picture of the trucks to the left of Keedwells strato, the Ice warrior Scania and GE Keedwells red Scania? It looks like there may be a few Langdons Scania 143’s. I’d like pictures of these as my dad runs one of them now and I know the owner of another.
V8 Passion:
Does anybody know Andy know as Honeymonster had an old merc 2033
I remember him from when he worked out of Curries depot in Avonmouth [mid 90’s]. He had a dark red Merc twinsteer. I recall him supporting the fair tac on trucks campaigns at a Truckfest.
My dad [who also subbed for Curries at the same time] still sees him around on the M5.

Chris sold the strato to another o/d in about 2000 i think, the new owner had a nasty accident in the motor and it ended up on its side. It was re-built and painted a lighter shade of metalic blue and put back on the road by the same o/d, who, because of injurys caused in the accident, had to have his son travel with him full-time to help load/unload. wether its still about, i dont know?? I would also like to know what happend to Chris, struck me as being a right charractor after seeing him on that program!!
That White has a North East reg WTY could have been the one Norman Keelyside had running out of Melinate in Jarrow early 80s I couldnt remember whether it was a white or Mack but when I saw that photo definatly the same so may have been his?
Is Hutchison still running?
Hutchinsons are still going strong, run alot of IVECOs now along with a few older ERFs. The motors are Metalic green now with simpler sign-writing, and are not as clean as that any more!!! Shame, that old livery was very nice i thought.
E655 WCM, the second black F16 brings back so many memories, i’m chasing a few more pics of it from when it was new, will post if i get them, thanks!!!
Great photos, espeially the Workmans Foden 8x4, didn’t they used be from around the Yate area, used to see them about (and remember that Foden) when I used to tip at NFT Sainsbury’s Yate most days ■■
I remember the evans transport f 10’s well as i had k738 new . there were 3 of them 736-7 bought specifically to run up and down to spain with sheep skins . the closest 1 in the picture was driven by chris ackland .
also nice to see m&d’s fleet in their original colours much nicer than the new silver livery ( in my opinion ).
fantastic photos therematey, espically liked them scanias and volvo globetrotters give me one of them anyday rather than a new daf or merc etc etc proper driving not flick a switch and point
