hi pete 359,i had all the 5s with vale.she was my first wagon when i started there.vale was owned by richard raymond not david as said earlier.the boys were gwyn and steve and he had a new baby when i was with him.i was there for a few years and ■■■■ was ok tho we didnt see eye to eye allways.we were next to j+m at stormy untill he had a yard on village farm next to dai his brother with argosy.we brought all our own bricks down x london brick and unloeded them by hand as was nearly allways the case everywhere then.john muir had the 4s in the other picture.we both had bran new motors later on.220L and 330L.all the tackle with ■■■■ was A1.trailers and units.i actually went to atkis to fetch two new units at walton le dale preston.one at a time that is.he was so fussy that they were all to look identical.long gone days.good old ■■■■ i was with him when my daughter was born in 1971. its time i packed it in now ive been at it too long.ade.

vale transport,were a firm i remember very well.when my parents ran our family business at stormy down in the early 70’s vale were based there.vale later moved to village farm industrial estate in pyle.in what is now cbl plant hire’s yard.next door to vale at pyle was argosy transport,the owners of these two transport companies were brothers,their other brother is still in haulage to this day,john raymond.this seddon photo is very large,i have scanned it as best i can :blush: .thanks to my good friend mike raymond,for the pictures.vale was owned by mike’s father dai raymond.

by the way,i think that picture of the4s was taken on stomy? i,m sure the chimney in the back ground was pulled down.i seem to remember it being there on stormy down.there was an old firing range there too.ill gone now.

sorry,my mistake,you are right,■■■■ raymond owned vale transport.the photos were lent to me by my old mate mike raymond.i think he would be the baby you mentioned :laughing: he’s 42 now.i think you are also right about that photo being stormy down,i hadn’t thought of that :blush: my father (dave cooper) told me today that a fella called tiny drove the seddon for vale.i can remember the water tank :smiley: ,i spent my childhood on stormy down in the 70’s.

That looks like Port Talbot in front of Graham on the M4,if I’m not mistaken.

Hi Pete 359, pics look good, what you need is one of those snappy cameras M8 !..I spy with my little eye a TP truck…that will be the Dock Shunter, an S reg DAF 75 they wont give up as it only used on the Docks, mmm, last time I saw it , I was in Telford, which is not on the Docks at Cardiff either…one for preservation maybe?

This is a copyright photo that I placed on the Cymmer Afan and District Historical Website and someone “lifted” As It is my photograph, I was very annoyed when someone offered me a copy of this photo for £30. He avoids me now as I told him it was my photo.

As a result, I have taken down the Cymmer History website, into which I was going to include further photos of E J Miles and his son E R Miles. Both companies had some interesting old vehicles and new ones during their life time.
