hi tetris 418,
my old f16 ,that was a very hot! truckfest south west at shepton mallet 2006.that’s my good friend paul davenport in the photo, his concourse f16 was parked next to me.i will always remember waking up at 4 a.m. hung over and stiffling in the cab, even with both windows down
.i got out and the first thing i saw was paul,up a ladder polishing his cab! @ bloody 4 a.m! man, that’s dedication

I dug this one out and stuck it on for you the other night, now we find out you’ve been “on the ■■■■” in Northampton over the week-end!!! Anyway here it is again Andrew just to bring you back to earth and a glimpes of a real “motor”!!!OJM 480L!!!Cheers Dennis.what a machine dennis.a stupid question i know, but why or how did ojm go so well?was it the gearing or did she have a few tweaks?it’s mentioned in one of bob tuck’s books, that’s how i know.bewick’s depot was a long cycle ride from porthcawl,so i never saw ojm
regards andrew
Hiya Andrew,it as the 10 speed Fuller coupled to the Eaton 2 speed. It gave it nice little steps instead of big ones between gears. You just let the revs drop 250 then drop it down on the axle or into high axle one gear down(if that makes sense!)Believe me you got up the nostrils of the 8LXB and F88 lads on the M/way grades!! If you pulled on the services they would sometimes follow you on and jump out and run across to check what motor was in the Atki, then they’ed want a look at your notes to see you were fully freighted! it was always a nice sweet engine and it was the first tractor I had fitted with a Dynair fan so that gave it a little bit more poke!! If only it had had ZF power steering it would have been perfect! as it was it was 99%!!! Cheers Dennis.
Hi pete 359 here is another photo of P. Davenport’s F16 i could not take my eyes of it when i first saw it

hi tetris418,
thanks for that .paul is totally dedicated,he has won over 20 major awards and in my very biased
opinion,he has earned every one of them.his f16 is in kit form at the moment,as he thought it needed improving
.paul may well be going on this years steelboys gaydon run in, “one of them funny yanky things, with horrible back wings”
.
hello dennis,
cheers for the info on ojm.

i knew cliff godwin for years.we used to be on the midlands intensive at one time.he was ok was cliff.i think he was with monarch at one time.i remember when i had a brand new atki borderer with a 180 gardener "L"reg i think, and he had the same truck but older and with a 220 ■■■■■■■■■■■■ the bo----ks off mine.he was with re plant for ages.i nearly had a job on their low loader but the money was crap.in jobcentre was £6.00 ph but as i didnt have a hiab certificate they said i,d have to have £5.50. i told him to shove it.i was better off with manpower on welsh water tankers etc.cliff was a life long driver like i am.in them days if you had a puncture within 5 mins thered be a long line of wagons pulled in to give you a hand.not now,if i broke down with mcdonald on, tipper boys would be happy as theyd done more loads than you.the jobs changed now to when i first started and the likes of cliff would always stop to see if you needed help.not only him most of the old boys would.its a rat race today.i remember alan evans of et trailers getting me digs in warrington and finding me a load back the next morn.we had no mobiles then we had to use public pay phones and ring around to find our own loads and check the rates as well.big ■■■■ was with alan with glyn morgan then,up on stormy.i was with vale tspt.mrs wrench in warrington wouldnt take anyone she didnt know.i was ok after alan got me in.excellent digs and food.even used to borrow her husbands mini bus and go on a pub crawl.that was when the song “mouldy old dough” was a hit and there was a blind bloke playing it on the accordian and he was brilliant.here i go again on and on,good old days from long ago though.sorry if ive bored you all.ade.
