long serving witney j.r. driver malcom dix winds up the legs of jr 245.

after j&m transport finished,ward jones whose father and uncle owned j&m,had b596 cep new in the summer of 1985.

ward and his father ron jones (rip),loaded with abbey coil for germany 1985.

ward jones with a very early j.r. tilt.

sorry to be so repetative :smiley: .here is one not driven by ward jones :smiley: .this jr 401 was driven by robin treharne (rip) and always kept immaculate.

with just three weeks to the 2011 season opener at malvern,we are nearly there :smiley:.

a tarmac daf owned by george llewellyn who once worked for penllyne haulage.

hi andrew , i hated pulling them single axles looked like they would turn over at every corner we had to handball all the rockwool bales off at the customers premises in the summer you would lose a stone :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: john

i remember that batch very well.one sunday morning on the way home from joints,i saw all of them with brand new trailers behind them,together in one wave on the m4 :smiley: .i think around? 35-40 of them.an awesome sight.

hiya mate,i have still got two copies of the promotional stills that were filmed on that very day hidden on vhs at the back of the cupboard! they were handed out to the drivers that participated in the filming,one of my brothers being one of them who drove j819 from new. i did have some pics of the stratocruisers somewhere,i,ll have to ask my brother as he,s got loads of pics from when he started there about twenty five years ago

next door to joint motorways at port talbot were ptp plant.

back in 1984 i painted this imported transcon.for a chap called henderson from cornwall.he was staying in south wales as he was running iron ore to llanwern on “the convoy”.years later lang’s from bridgend ran it.
