pete 359:

I had many a good trip on the olau line out of sheerness with some of the western roadways driver,s,Di Loydd,Duggy, and others.I would ship out on a sunday night with a few Alte drivers old cockney Jack with his transcon and some other Alte drivers Satan,Bobby (he loved a bird).I think western had some F88,s after the leylands, this must have been around mid 70,s.They really were great times.I later saw Di working for Hicks in the early 90,s,big bloke with a finger missing,he loved a drink an was a gret laugh.Happy days.

joint’s bought all of hall’s fleet for the licences, that’s how it worked in those days, sadly it didn,t work well as a,b,c licences were changed for the then new o licence system,so joint’s need not have bought all of hall’s ageing fleet!that’s it for this batch of w.h.hall pictures, many thanks to dai davies for kindly calling in to see me today and happy 2010 to you all.

rickett’s of ewenny are another firm i can’t remember.i was told by a well known truck magazine journalist that they sold out during the 60’s to nationwide of cardiff.

david a. davies tondu.

proper welsh greedy boards,to get that coal and coke piled up high!

Hy, do’es anyone remember the Welsh meat haulier that used to run on night trunk to London in the fifties with Foden, ERF and Atkinson Waggon and Trailers which used to be painted in green, cream and red. They were always being followed by the Police who were a bit hot on speeding, being followed of course meant tucked up behind the Trailer which could lead to a few “emegency stops”. Do’es anbody know what happened to them…Tony.

Did you mean this one,London & Welsh Transport Service Ltd, Godfrey Street Cardiff, but they ran in two-tone green livery

Yes Flatman001 thats the Company but in the fifties when the waggons were much older than those in the pictures they were green and cream or ivory with a red chassis and wheels but called London and Welsh. Do you know what happened to them…Thanks for the pictures, their great…Tony.

Happy New year Andrew, and everyone on this Thread.

rosser’s of pontlliw ran an age old fleet of leyland’s and aec’s.this 8 legger was restored several years ago.while i don’t want to appear critical,i can clearly remember rosser’s and with the greatest respect this aec looks brand new compared to the battered, dented worn out motors they ran.great to see all the same!
