South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

cracking pics andrew, i thinks this thread may run forever at this rate

they had 4 of these fodens, whilst they went well,i never liked them, compared to the eps powerliner twin turbo v8’s they were noisy, rough and uncomfortable.

me weighing off a load of coal at the abbey,i got reported by the weighman to security for taking this picture.naughty boy!

pete 359:

Hi Andrew,
I had a mate who drove for Illtyd Thomas, his mame was Dave Kinsey,he had a bad accident at Alcan Swansea,a crane sling hit him in the back, while he was folding the sheet before loading,he moved down there, from here while driving for Entress.
Cheers Dave.

Heres a picture of one of Alan Prices Foden tippers. I havnt seen many of theirs on here so far, its a cutting out of a Trucking magazine but hope its Ok. Ive got some more old photos to post up soon.

I was told this was a Seddon Atkinson publicity photo but dont know for sure, a cracking photo of one of J Rs SA400s when they were still in the old livery. This must of been one of the last in this colour. Hope you all like it.

Another from the archives. Handsome looking Scania in Hicks old livery. One of my favorites.

Rgds Mark.

Heres another cutting from a Truck & Driver article in 1986. I would love to see more pics of this company. The driver was Terry Thomas.Apparently they ran several of these Scammells as well as Leyland Marathons and ERFs, i think they really look the part.

Hi Andrew,
I knew Mansel Davies ran ERF’s,but didn’t know they ran such a varied fleet, its an education seeing these pics from you South Wales chaps. Keep them coming, its great to see them, spent a lot of hours on the road to South and West Wales.
Cheers Dave.
