Hi Pete,
Thanks mate,I’m sure you recognised the location.Loading bales in Cooper’s Downing Street Smethwick.J200 was Joint’s first 1735.A phenomenal truck, that went onto do a colossal mileage.I think she ended her days in amongst some woodland on the A49,when Terry Tamlyn R.I.P. ran off the road…
Regards Andrew.

Hello Andrew
I wasnt aware that Terry Tampax had gone, another real character. Do you remember when he got JR banned from the Abbey after he came the wrong way out of the one-way trailer park?. It would have been ok if he hadnt told one of the managers to f… off when he pointed out his mistake.

Hi Mike,
I do remember that trailer Park incident and a few others,Joint had at least one? there was a route marked out with barrels.Though there was nothing either side, just empty land,If you were seen off route? There were severe consequences.I always thought it was more to stop people taking over the land? There were several dozen scrap tractor units and trailers just abandoned there back then.I remember my mate Jeff Caudle bought an old Atki restoration project from there. It took me three months to find out who owned it,Someone from Hereford? Good to hear from you Mike.
Regards Andrew.

Morning Andrew,
Yes I clocked the location, you were probably being loaded by Phil Taylor, ginger headed lad, EMR have mothballed both the bale yard and the rail head yard at Smethwick for the foreseeable future.
The pic’s of the ERF is one of the shunters I owned taking bales from the yard up on to the rail head over the road, the front of the ERF is roughly where your trailer was being loaded. It was an ex Ely Transport, long been cut up. Cheer’s Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks mate.I knew you’d recognise it instantly.Been looking through some of my hundreds of Joint albums. The first couple here are taken in the Bryngwyn Works in Gorseinon. Finally Thomas Marshall Roberts,a life long family friend whom I’m very glad to say,is loving the photos and comments on Trucknet, driving B948 BWN passed Earls Court (out of shot on the right) and Tommy offloading crane ends in Fleet Street.

Morning Andrew,
Cracking photo’s of Joints, noticed the B series sleeper has a Staffordshire reg number, did they buy new and secondhand? What year did Joints start? My late father used to mention Joint Motorways to me as being a big company and he had many a chat with Cliff at the rally held at Shrewsbury Showground, I remember Cliff had a tent that was full of photo’s and always had a camera hanging round his neck.
The reason I ask as my Dad would not have given those Merc’s a second glance as they where too modern, anything with more than 6 gears was unnecessary in his eyes, so he must of clocked some “older” motors of theirs at some point in his life!
Please keep the Joints pic’s coming as they are probably buried a couple of hundred pages back in this thread, Cheer’s Pete
