Hi mate,I used to load your old mans trailers in the abbey he had a argument with piggy Keith on the weighbridge cause I weighed out at 32 tonnes he would have been half a tonne over he got his way in the end cheers John
Firstly my name is clive griffiths ( andrew is my youngest son) I knew your father very well as he used to work for Henry Jenkins I started there in 1972 and worked full time for them until around 78 and still worked part time for them until they packed the transport in .
I used to live in Tynant when your parents used to live on Parish Road then your family moved down to Church Village ,Mike always parked his unit just across from roadrunner, also i think you lived near Ray Davey, H Jenkins fitter.

Your right about the buffalo, rust on it brand new and time spent in the workshop, the 81,s were worlds apart for comfort and reliability.
Old coloured marathon before the respray.THT 645M.
This motor was a flying machine and was driven by the menace.

Hello Dai,
Thanks for the reply.was that Marathon powered by ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā they went well.let down by stupid British Leyland though.Joint had 29 Marathons and never had 29 on the road at the same time! A W Reg they had New was scrapped at two years old. They bought mercs after that, they were bombproof and later DAF and SCANIA.
Regards Andrew.
The above marathon was not ā ā ā ā ā ā ā powered but i would have to check old diaries for the answer.
The seddons were rollers but for some odd reason plymouth had 1 ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā
At the time Leyland had loads of parked up buffalo,s so in my mind they got rid of lots to their state owned sister companies.
The menace was always gone early in the morning and this truck was still pulling out of the abbey and later he would tip Nurden and Peacocks
Ruislip or plymouth 6am delivery.
