Hi all,
This is one of the last BRS photos courtesy of jeff perrett. This i am guessing? is an early ergomatic Leyland Beaver amongst the newer Seddon’s.
Firstly my name is clive griffiths ( andrew is my youngest son) I knew your father very well as he used to work for Henry Jenkins I started there in 1972 and worked full time for them until around 78 and still worked part time for them until they packed the transport in .
I used to live in Tynant when your parents used to live on Parish Road then your family moved down to Church Village ,Mike always parked his unit just across from roadrunner, also i think you lived near Ray Davey, H Jenkins fitter.
Plenty of stories of them days.
Hello Clive, 1972 was the year the old man went on his own when he bought an F86 off Henry’s, Ray Davey, the Henry Jenkins, fitter was a good friend an neighbour of his, I often see Ray, he’s in his 80’s now and still as fit as a fiddle. Your old mate Gary Prosser also used to live in the next street to us back then, is Gary, still living in Spain? The old man always stayed close to Henry’s, even after he went on his own and did a lot of his maintenance in their yard, as you say there plenty of stories of them days. Regards, Mike.
Hi all,
Trucknet member jb1977 (Jason) kindly loaned me a vhs video, remember those? Featuring 10 of John Raymond’s then brand new 1733 V6 mercs coupled to brand new Rockwool trailers.Trucknet member Stubbsy has kindly converted the video to dvd and once technical support (Harry Cooper) shows me how to post it on here you can all see it too.until then, here are a few stills…
That Tom Hughes Transport 2800 Daf was my lorry, we had a 2200 for our first one then this one a few years later. We had a few other lorries but the Daf’s were used mainly by me. The IFF box was full of plastic pellets going to ICI in Pontypool It’s a 40ft box sitting on a tipping skelly trailer. That picture was taken on the Geest quayside at Barry docks
