There is nothing in my Trevor Phillips notes to confirm this, but I have a feeling this one was bought new and stored for a few years until work became available, hence the T-plate (1978-9).

i think a lot of operators back then did exactly that.something to do with company taxation laws at that time?i know of one large welsh haulier that still did that during the 1980’s.btw,that atki has survived into preservation,though i haven’t seen it for some time now….
