South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

Hi Coop, It was thirty years come Christmas this year since I left, had my papers and buggered off, started there just before my 17th, as no doubt you remember my 18th!! Actually, I tell a lie, thinking about it, I was sacked come this Christmas thirty years ago, took them to tribunal, won my job back within two months, and then until the end of apprenticeship, which will be this time next year, boy I was popular when I went back! :laughing:

Hi John, I doubt it very much you would know me, as I said earlier, I was from there by the middle of 1986, passed my class one and was tramping the UK & Europe for seven years with various companies, based all over, grass is always greener… not. At the end of 1992 I started my own and now run seven vans, employing six, doing all the UK and Europe, there isn’t much we haven’t carried or an EU country we haven’t been too. If I could work the attachment I would attach a photo of my first van, you would probably recognise it from the logo. Simon.

Hello Gwyn,that Atki picture brings back memories,I remember when you and Peter Treharne had the pair of them new.I was driving a tin-cab AEC with Glyn Morgan,36 mph flat out and sick as a parrot when you used to sail past me.
Glad to know there`s still a few of us REALLY old ones still knocking about.

Thanks small coal, my mates building it forme, he’s got to do the trailer yet,this one is going to have a sheeted load on, he even puts the hitches in the ropes :smiley: :unamused: ,I just haven’t got the patients for all that fiddley stuff I’m afraid the hammer would be out :smiley: :smiley: and I think a certain Mr John Rees (JR). I’ll tell him, if he doesn’t know already. The F88 kit is hard to get hold of so he has used an F10 kit and put the cab on off a another model he had. He’s at to shorten the chassis and alsortsbut it’ll be right. And if you think that’s picky don’t ever do anything cuz I’m a right picky bar steward :smiley: :smiley:
