The Cwmfelin press also made tubs for Servis appliances in Willenhall . A WG Davies artic incidentally crashed on Clows Top hill , that i seem to recall was a Bedford . Didnt their yard back on to the old Swansea canal ? regards Keith .

My list has EWN496C with no description apart from a withdrawal date of 04 June 1971. 203CWN does not appear on the list; the nearest is 100CWN which was an Atkinson arctic.

Many thanks for adding to the knowledge base on this firm. I remember the Cwmfelin Works well; all houses nowadays.

Here,s 100 CWN, I think this Atkinson caught fire later.

Wynford was one of our clients back in the day so I have some gen on his wagons. This one (LCY627X) entered service on 17 August 1981. It was originally scheduled to carry registration KWN170X and indeed ran from new with this plate, but I understand there was a mix-up at the DVLA and two vehicles ended up with the same plate, so Wynford’s wagon had to be re-registered.

I don’t, sorry; with all our clients the business relationship was with the directors or their managers. We had a separate claims team who got involved with the individual drivers if there was an incident, but apart from that, no. What I did find, however, was that most of the directors of haulage firms recognised my surname and asked if I was related to Vince Porter (Silver Roadways, Porterloads Ltd.) which of course, as his son, I was. That was a great ice breaker and many interesting conversations followed.

Ah yes the lesser spotted 400 had the traditional motor panels cab and this was first formed by Augustus Winthrop in 1402 the later 401 had the…same cab as its British…cheap as chips, same meat different gravy…it’s a new model sed atki…no same one with plastic grille and bumper, and new even worse door handles, made from monkey metal :unamused: :unamused: but we’re great to drive, wish I had one now , not many on the retro scheme D
Nothing wrong with those highlights, and radical hair cuts, it’s characture building SBF10
