oooops,cardiff city centre. :unamused:

Hi all, can someone remind me where that is? Scratching my head here, should know it.
My daughter Rhiann arrived in Cardiff yesterday, visiting her grandmother for Xmas already complaining its cold, but hoping to see snow. Is there going to be a white Xmas in S. Wales?
The downside of contracting to the U.S. Postal Service is we work through the holiday season, but work is work and good jobs are hard to come by. Hoping to visit in Sept for the Retro show.

So, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone on this great site a Merry Xmas and prosperous 2012.
Greetings from Florida,
Paul

when i posted this picture,i wondered if you would guess the location?it’s bute street and if that 4.5 metre tautliner went under the main south wales to london railway line,it would then be in callaghan square :sunglasses: .i bet your daughter is cold in cardiff at the moment.we haven’t had any snow as yet though :frowning: .it would be great to see you again at any of the shows.a merry christmas and a happy new year to you and yours in sunny florida.

Andrew, thanks for the reply. To be honest I thought it was Bute St, but those lights ahead of the bridge threw me. As daft as it may seem I tried imagining I was driving down that road, and a few others.
Probably get lost driving there now, or go down a one way street the wrong way with all the changes over the last 20 years.

Regards Paul.

Hi im new to this, every1 happy christmas.

So, if your as sad as me, and remember working out the long runs, and nights out, if we are on a night out tonight, that means a short one on Friday, maybe, back to the yard, wash off,(thats the truck, not you!), and in the pub for 6.30, unless you have pi***d the boss off and he puts you on a long one Friday morning, and worse still you have to load and go…

So…plenty of time to did out those photos, comments, and questions you have been afraid to ask,

1- Is a spread over still used on sandwiches or does every one now eat Panninis, and drink Highland Spring water…ughhhhh
2- Is a fly sheet, some thing you wash of the windscreen in the summer months?
3-What did BRS stand for?, Before Ratchet Straps maybe?

A few “thread facts”, of the 290 pages, featuring 7830 photos, on the 8704 posts Pete 359 has covered most topics, with a link to either South Wales Hauliers, Steel Hauliers, Trucks or things on or wearing Rubber…

The challenge…

and the South Wales Hauliers sixties & seventies will pass the 300 barrier!

Good Luck,

Hi all,
If the cawthorn? That you refer to is anything to do with the haulier cawthorn and Sinclair, well they had a depot in south Wales many years ago.with regard to who in Wales used to own this Albion? Sorry, but I wouldn’t know, though you never know, someone on here may know something
Regards Andrew.

hi all,
so here’s a xmas question?who would be the oldest established welsh road transport company still trading to this day.john raymond has been going for 50 + years?though i can think of at least two welsh operators, one from mid- glamorgan and another from cardigan who,so i am told ? have been trading twice as long as that.any ideas■■?

My guess Andrew would be Mansel Davies who have been going nearer a 100 years.
Cheers Dave.
