I remember a haulage firm Parfits they used to get up to Newcastle, the firm I worked for Smiles used to load them back with firebricks from Henry Fosters at Backworth, & they used to give us return loads as well, I sure it was run by Mrs Parfit ?, they had red wagons I think, any photos about. Regards Larry.

Heres a couple more my hero bubbs sent me this afternoon

That has got to be the earliest 400 Sed-Atki ive seen, was this a ‘seed’ vehicle any body know■■?

According to commercial motor it was the first one to go into service, on my iPad now so can’t upload the cutting, but I will, it shows it pulling a powder tank, cheers Steve

hi all,
here’s a colour photo of the same motor, from page 118.

pete 359:
glyn john transport ran a large mixed fleet.in the background is a valley carriers/wincanton big j.

regards andrew.

Yeh ur spot on, I’ve put a page on facebook for glyn John, there’s pictures I’ve bought and some I’ve had off here, there’s a bloke called Peter jones, I think he’s been on here, but he worked for them for a ■■■■■ age and he knows all the info, apparently they had the first maggie deutz as well, don’t know if it was in Wales or in the country but some rugby mush presented the keys

There was Parfitt Brothers of Ebbw Vale, maroon tippers sold out to a couple of drivers 1980 ish. Did a lot of work in RTBs Ebbw Vale.
There was Parfitts Motors of Rhymney Bridge, ran 4 wheel tippers and coaches. Old man Parfitt died taking a bus load of valley workers to ICI in Ponytypool, his Mrs ran the show then followed by two sons. Sold tippers 81ish, and coaches to Stage Coach mid 90s. Iirc had one or two flatbeds, or tipper with drop-sides red in colour. Can’t remember any artics though.

Regards Paul

Get your hand down boyo and buy this one as well as the Merc!! I think I know where you can get a “half decent” paint job for the right money!! All you’ve got to do is tell the bloke wether you want “niagra” or “orange peel” finish!! Cheers Dennis.
