hi all,
dennis to be honest mate,i don’t really “get” the modern truck racing.it’s all big teams and six figure sums.when i went to the first ever race at donnington in 1984,that was brilliant.the drivers dropped their loaded trailers in the parking area, stuck a number on the door and went off around the circuit.it’s changed alot since those early days.this scania pace truck reminded me of a certain ■■■■■■■■ haulier
regards andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Thats Dennis mate TNUK member yappie’s motor.
Cheers Dave.

perhaps dennis was driving

Who’s idea was it to use JR and his Motor as Pace truck? are they ■■■■■■■ mad or what? I thought a pace truck was supposed to hold the competitors at a steady speed?? The field would have to go like blue arsed fly’s to keep up with JR!! He’d have them spread out right round the track!! Now if he had to use the Scania 92 he drove at Bewick Transport in his “formative youth” well I think they’ed just about be able to keep pace with him----- but it would be a close run thing,he’d still give them a run for their money in the 92,no danger!! Gives me the shakes just thinking about it even after all these years! Cheers Dennis.

hi dennis,
this well known 143 was a racing transporter at pembray.having worked on and driven many scania’s,i have to say, quality truck with useless dealers, sorry but the truth is always going to hurt.we waited 10 days for an r series door recently.if that was a volvo it would be with us the next working day, guaranteed.

Sounds like Scania have “gone off” over the years Andrew, they belong to MAN/VW now don’t they? I would never entertain MAN at any price so I can only supposed that they’ve made Scania drop down to their way of working.I wonder how long will it be until amalgamate fully? Cheers Dennis.
