Makes me ill watching Truck racing Andrew!! Bloody cruel I call it mate, but I suppose you’ll be just reliving old times at Joints!! terrible, just terrible,I’d have sacked the ■■■■■■ lot of you, apart from Cliff Ashley,I suppose, and I could probably have knocked Martyn into shape!!! Cheers Dennis.

Dennis M8, don’t knock it till you tried it. Back in 1989/90 I was a guest of Trans-litre of Burton on Trent at Donnington Park. They had a 4x2 ERF in the race, with a bunch of working motors, and regular guys racing against them. What a blast that day was, and have never forgot it. I would of been thrilled to have been at Pembrey yesterday, especially in the company of Andrew and the gang, I am sure you would enjoy it also.
A lot of people on here, as myself have a lot of respect for you, I am 2800 miles away, so why don’t you make plans to visit some of the shows next year. I am sure you will enjoy yourself, and there are many that would enjoy your presence also.

Regards Paul

Hiya Paul,I was just indulging in a bit of banter which I know Andrew takes with “a large pinch of salt!” and a good laugh! But personally I’ve never been able to stand any form of abuse to motors/stock cars ect. I can watch Formula 1 but thats about my lot!! I’ve been to a number of shows over the years but I can’t say I’m a “rabid” enthusiast although I do fully appreciate the amount toil that must go into each project and the dedication that such an effort requires! However ,I am very interested in how old, long gone, hauliers operated and,of course, the motors they ran.I thoroughly enjoy browsing through the various threads on this site and studying the photos, particularly the Great Bubb’s thread which contains many shots of “old” motors when they were new as IMO no matter how well modern restorations are they can never equal the origional vehicle when it was indeed new.Who knows I may decide to attend a few shows in 2012 and put faces to some of the great lads I’ve “met” on TN------ but don’t hold your breath Paul!!! Regards Dennis.

hi all,
dennis to be honest mate,i don’t really “get” the modern truck racing.it’s all big teams and six figure sums.when i went to the first ever race at donnington in 1984,that was brilliant.the drivers dropped their loaded trailers in the parking area, stuck a number on the door and went off around the circuit.it’s changed alot since those early days.this scania pace truck reminded me of a certain ■■■■■■■■ haulier
regards andrew.

If I had to choose a Bewick motor/s as a truck racing rig ( is that the right description?) it would be these two tractors J7 & J8 SAY,maybe the only draw back would be they were on steel suspension!
