South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

hi all,
within days of the south cornelly bypass opening in december 1989,it had claimed it’s first victim.the high cross winds tipped this cargo over.

gah1950:
hello all.
a bit of a crass comment bewick if i may say, people were hurt and sombody is dead.probably meant toungue in cheek but all the same not nice at all.
graham.

Ah! The curse of the PC brigade/Thought Police!!! I promise that from now on anything I wish to post on this thread I will first of all run it past you “gah 1950” then you can redact anything you find remotely funny! I guess most of my posts will just come up blank from now on then! Doh! Bewick.

to bewick,
dont bother to run anything past me matey for my approval,i was simply saying your comment was crass in the circumstances of what occured in newport, perhaps for all you know the casualties could be related to any trucknet member in newport or anywhere in the country for that matter,i will not be replying to any more of your comments as you seem to think you can get away with anything you print on this site, and for the record anyone that knows me will tell you that i am not in anyway part of the PC brigade/police as you put it, they simply would not let me join.
goodbye.gah1950.

hi chris,
i think? my father, you and i walked across the fields together,to where i took those two pictures,it probably wouldn’t happen now chris, 22 years later the bypass is a little more “naturally sheltered” from the atlantic winds:  .
regards andrew.

A good number of South Wales Trucknet’ers invaded the Hereford truck show this weekend.

We had a great time getting there and back, as well as enjoying the show itself. Thanks to all involved.

I imagine a picture or two will pop up soon enough…
Neil.

Hi pete 359,
Thanks for putting on the splendid photos of Hereford Truck Show.
The Leyland Marathon is one of the first off the production line , and was used by Leyland Motors for early
publicity purposes. Nice to see it restored.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

hi roy,
thank you for that.wtj 12ol is chassis number 1,built at guy motors wolverhampton.she has been seen on this thread many times,at work in south wales and iran.if there was a listed status for old trucks as there is for old buildings, for me that marathon would be grade 1.
regards andrew.

also at hereford, was my good friend neil james in one of his many leylands.this lynx has a bristol registration.

Hi Andrew
Looks like that was a really good show mate, did you see Dave the Renegade there  I think Hereford and Kington Shows have clashed this year, so he could have been at any or both of them.
cheers
