hi all,
for paul john and anyone else who may be intrested,a few photos of just some,of the top draw motors in the classic section at hereford earlier today.

Hi Andrew and all, thanks for the photo’s. Looks as if Hereford was a good day out, nice to see the rest of the boys in the line up.

Regards Paul.

Evening all, Spanish Dodges, the electrics certainly were, but 12.9litres of unmitigated muscle, killed off, before it was fully sorted by the merger of the Peugeot Citroen truck interests into Renault Vehicules Industriels. One of my old Lyon colleagues was responsible for the team that “engineered” the big Berliet cab onto the Barreros 300series, to promote “corporate identity” reminds me of the Leyland Group ■■■■ ups here! My clearest memory of the flying Spanish Dodge, that one of Herefords Eddie Gammond, re cabbed with a Buffalo cab, it must have been the quickest thing carrying coils out of South Wales, bar non. Whatever happened to it, does it still lurk somewhere in the Border Country?? Great pictures Gentlemen, thank you, Cheerio for now.

Online van booking is very easy process. But before you book van rental, whether online, over the phone or at the dealership, confirm that you read through all the different terms and conditions to make sure you check for any hidden costs and fees.

Hi All

Just found this site. Brilliant photographs.

I started driving in the late 60s, tippers first then artics with Dowlais Transport (Run by Dai Hewins, anyone remember him),

A stint with F Hann & Son in Ebbw Vale before joining the Hoover fleet in 1973.

Finished in road transport in 1983 after 3 years as transport co-ordinator with Midland Oil Refineries in Ebbw Vale.

Hello abtfinman, and welcome.
I don’t remember Dowlais Transport, but does Hubert Johns ring a bell. He had box vans in Hoovers, and ran tippers on the shale and out of Cromwell Slag, perhaps its the same company based on Pant ind este late 80s. You probably remember D.L.Blake and Sons. I remember Fred Hanns yard in Eurika Place, near the swimming pool, and who could forget Hoovers private fleet, mostly AEC grey and white later to be blue and white.
At the time it was rumoured to be the best driving job about.

Hi Paul

Yes I remember Hubert Johns. Original depot was in the Old central station yard in Dowlais. Their box vans originally worked out of Triang toys. If I remember correctly they did not do a lot of work for Hoovers.
F Hann was run by the son Stan. Commonly known as F Troop. Not the best outfit to work for .
Hoover was a good employer back then. I got looked after very well when I had personal problems. Money was OK, although you could earn more with other firms.
