Gentlemen anorak time, Its a 6lw 120 B. H. P. the easy way to tell a L.W. from an L.X. is the position of the
fuel pump and cam box, on the L.W. its at the front of the engine, and on the L.X. its at the rear of the block driven by a shaft from
the front , The 5L.W always had 3cyls at the front and 2 at the rear. this might interest somebody, and then again it might not .

hi paul,
thanks for that mate ,glad you had a safe journey back to florida.
regards andrew.
hi all,
a belgian mate rang me yesterday and told me a friend of his had a problem at a drop in swansea.the good old health and safety man said it was too dangerous to lift two pallets out of the side of the trailer one each side, above the landing legs.they told him to go back to belgium and return with the pallets at the back doors
there was other groupage filling up the euroliner and this h+s gentleman
had really cocked up the drivers schedule.so he was secretly sent to south cornelly,i then removed the two pallets kept them in my building overnight and today another belgian friend who was empty called in,i loaded the two pallets through the back doors, gave him the cmr, result
and the stupid bloody jobsworth âelf in a safe treeâ man was none the wiser.note the black fh is a 6 wheeler, the belgieâs are starting to run on 6 axles at last
.
todayâs belgian visitor
those belgieâs love their 16 litre volvoâs
hello andrew,
h&s is begining to be a nuisance, after all the years i have been at my job we have recently had to take a touch screen test, and a classroom test of some 80 odd questions and a practical test which consisted of loading a vibrating roller,a 20 ton excavator and an a25 volvo dumptruck, three of the tiniest items of plant that we run,the man in charge of the testing told us that he was embarresed testing us as he probably could not load or unload the items of plant himself.what purpose the loading/unloading served i dont know as we transport plant in excess of 100tons surely that is the type of plant that drivers should display their skills on to gain these CPCS licences,i am told that most of the big concerns in future will prohibit drivers from loading/unloading unless you have this new category irrespective of how long you have been at it,h&s has turned into a bigger industry than the industry it now dictates to.
.

Hi Curnock
Yes youâre right ,Maldwyn was based there before he packed it in but his original yard was in Hirwaun, opposite the junction for the old road to Brecon via Penderyn. Back in the 70âs he ran Albions,Atkis,ERFâs.Fodens and the smartest F88âs (these were replaced by DAF 2800âs as shown in the photo) in the valleys
