The weather wouldn’t stop me Andrew, but we had other things on.That’s a classic Welsh Haulier Trevor G Phillips.I remember going past their garage at Cadoxton on the old A465 going down to Port Talbot in the late 60’s,always had a look what was about, usually most of them were out on the road somewhere. They had a AEC that used to sound fantastic, when I was working on the building before going lorry driving,we were working at Whitney Toll Bridge and could hear that motor coming for miles.
Cheers Dave.

i don’t think this aec had come down from east yorkshire

the owner of this motor had a nasty accident whilst at the show and cut his head open :open_mouth: i believe he is ok though.ken williams (recovery) had to drive it back to his yard for safe keeping whilst the owner was in hospital.

Thanks for that Graham.Vincent Greenhouse at Lyde near Hereford were main dealers for Bedford and sold a lot of them all over the county and beyond. Passey Nott & Co Ltd and J & P Turner had a lot of Bedfords over the years at Kington, also quite a few of the old quarry hauliers of the 50’s and 60’s had quite a few new tippers off them.
Cheers Dave.

This early 1950s 6x4 Mammoth Major, was originally a fuel bowser with the fleet air arm at Yeovilton Somerset
It was purchased and restored by the late Rex Rainey, and carried the Morris Carriers livery, His wife then sold it to
Trans European of Hull.
It was purchased by Bernard White from mid Wales about 18 months ago, and he rallies it regularly

Two South wales lorries in one [in 1-32 scale] almost finished. Just need to sheet the coil and put the lift in chains on.

t.s.rees are a long established quarry owning and transport concern.every senior member of the south wales transport industry has got a sammy rees tale to tell.they never sold anything, all the fleet has always been bought and paid for and although they don’t run as many trucks now, they are still very much alive and kicking.during the summer 0f 1996 a mate of mine mentioned to me in our local pub that he had been instructed by sammy rees to go into his site in cornelly and cut everything up.before that happened i went in there with my camera.everything you see next had the gas axe.they even found an old jaguar car, that got weighed in as well.

fast forward to 2011 and it would appear that, not everything got weighed in
