What’s the best / worst smells you get when driving out and about?
I like the smell from the Weetabix factory on the A14 and just past Banbury on the M40 there’s a smell from one of the factories which I’m not 100% sure but it smells a bit like malt.
Worst smells are the waste incinerator by Heathrow and the sewage works at the M25/M3 junction.
Banbury is the smelliest town I know.
There is Fine Ladies bakery, and the Chocolate factory on the first estate off the motorway. There is a coffee place somewhere as well, but not sure where it is.
One other thing I noticed about Banbury. All the fork truck drivers seem to be female.
Nicest smell…anywhere there is whiskey bonds or distilleries.
Worst smell…Penrith.
Clunk:

White lion retail park “Dumpstable” near DHL the smell of coffee mmmm
Worst When you go up the m1 and they spreader horse ■■■■ over the field
Down in deepest Willowholme, it depends which way the wind blows.
One breeze gives you Carr’s/United’s/McVitie’s (whatever it’s called this week) biscuit factory and with a change in direction you get the sewage plant round the corner.
And I boak if I go anywhere near a fish processing plant, or a cattle/pig/chicken farm for that matter, especially on a cold and frosty morning when the aroma covers half the county…
Cotton Valley, J14,M1- Milton Keynes ■■■■ Works gives off a bit of a Hum sometimes & most Landfills whiff a bit, although they tend to spray air freshener across them now.
Best smell: Any bakery. The aroma of a fresh smelling loaf of bread just does it for me. Maybe because I was a van boy on bread vans when I was 11, and 38 years later I still love the aroma.
Worst: Has to be fields getting sprayed with ■■■■. The smell follows you for miles.
Ken.
Some of the dairies we visited were a bit minging, sour milk. Chocolate and coffee factories are the best.
Widnes
A61 near Harewood in the summer. Some days are rank.

Coffee blending depot at the end of the M32 Bristol, as you head south to the city, it is on the right, with Cabots Circus mall in front of you.
The aroma that comes out of the chimney is very pleasant.

The big factory by the south side of Blackwall tunnell used to stink years ago
worst= port sunlight.
best= used to be hp sauce in brum.
Worst smell was the other day driving between Falmouth and Truro, pretty sure a knackers wagon had shed its load overnight as there was ■■■■ all mulched in the road and the stench rotting carcasses (remember that from when i worked at the hunt kennels and the wagon used to come pick up all the offal and crap) not what you wanna be smelling at 7 in the morning
The worst is Port Talbot on the M4, but at least it means I’m nearly home.
A couple of people have mentioned bakeries - I worked at Sunblest in Saltney (Nr Chester) on nights when I first left school. At first I loved the smell but after a few weeks I came to hate it. Still not keen!
British Pepper & Spice on Brackmills, Northampton.
When they tipped their bin in the transfer station, it would nearly choke you to death, every smell on earth & some
