I cant remember who the original owner was, it could have been Mondials of london…
Thinking about it you could well be right. I remember see them about in the 80`s in that powder blue colour with the box trailers on the back. I definitely remember seeing a same colour powder blue DAF 95 around the Blanc area which im sure was Mondials cos it mentioned Greece AND Cyprus on the side. I think they had a depot in north London somewhere, on an industrial estate not far from Redburns.
Your DAF is / was definitely the same colour so it could be one of their old ones. Looks the part though doesn’t it, a proper working truck.

The origional colour was Daf Orange when Alan bought it. He had it resprayed to its mercedes blue by Steve Grey who also serviced and maintained it in his workshop at Braintree on a regular basis. M&C Steve posts on here and now lives in Thailand. Regards Jamie.
The blue DAF looks like one of the 3 we had at Camels they came home orange and were then done yellow and green
I shall ask him today I think Georges one at mondails had a sticth on axel if it was the one they used to leave at Bow as well
And as for that green DAF it had such a good paint job had it 3 years and never ever painted it was about the only one I never done
I got it off Cert services green with like a sort of packman type sperm thing on the door in yellow.
This 1983 reg 3300 was built for the Turkish market, but was sold to the UK instead.
I cant remember who the origional owner was, it could have been Mondials of london. It was later owned and operated by Alan Johnson of Braintree, who added quite a few mods such as: Cow catcher, two six hundred litre diesel tanks and a pair of large boxes behind the cab with the batteries in between. He also had fitted heavy duty front springs which raised the front by nearly a foot. He used this truck for quite a few years running to the Middle East and then to Russia .
I bought it from Alan in early 94 and subbed for him doing Kepstowe’s work to Russia for a couple of years before buying a space cab 95 which was on air and made the job a bit easier. I later sold this 3300 to a turk who exported it to turkey.
hi jamie

There were a lot of these DAF sold in the UK, it was a cancelled Turkish order and each DAF dealer had to push a few into his own area I think. My old boss had a couple, they were a bit heavy for the UK but things like that didn’t worry him. They worked hard for around 7 years for him and ran just as well on cherry as they did on white, in fact I think that is where one of them ended up, when HMCE stole some diesel from him
Sorry I was wrong the blue daf deffo was not Camels just spoke to him but he did say he had 3 A reg turkish spec 3300s and there were about 15 knocking about but had a funny spec with not all the comforts of the uk ones
Hullo All,
Those Turkish Spec 3300’s were pretty good motors as Malc said a bit heavy and a bit more crude than the norm, but good old workhorses. On the photo back on this site of a couple of mine, the one nearest to the camera was one of the Turkish ones, and except for the comfort and top speed was a better vehicle than the 3600 next to it.
Cheers, Archie.
Hiya …i saw this DAF in Cyprus about 4 years ago. she was a middle east spec left ■■■■■■ but the chap
who owned her had done a right hand drive conversion and fitted a new front panel, sitting on 1200X20
tyres she looked spot on
Hi, does anyone remember a firm called ’ marshall’ from derby/Nottingham at all? I used to live near a bloke who drove a daf 2800 or 3300 for them, red cab with a White roof and headboard, Marshall on the doors in White and black, lovely motor.

I think they were fitting ZF synchro boxes to the rest of the DAF 3300 range by then, but these still had Fuller roadranger boxes iirc

Quite right Malc, but I think that this was a retrograde step. Nothing like the old 13RTO Fuller Box, real comfy and easy.
Cheers, Archie.

your right it does look spot on.
Hiya Gaz…i’am ok mate…don’t like the dark nights much…i bet that daf is still for sale as the job it was to do fell through.
I did’nt word the write up properly…that truck was’nt a uk truck doing middle east !!! it was operated by a company
out east so it was a dry weather motor there’s no rust anywhere on her and the cab is mint.
I’am going to send you a PM as i’ve got a mate living in Biddle and i woundered if you know him, i think he’s driving for
CRW / Bells /Turners on a powder tanker.
Cheers John
Indeed it is, but why 'Leyland DAF on the roof? Was it hauling parts?
At a guess I would imagine that this may well have been a demostrator truck.Dont think the under bumper with fitted spots was standard and that paint job was DAFS promotional colours.
Im sure wheelnut will put us right as Dafs seem to be his thing!! Great looking truck and one of the best truck cabs ever made.
