A few from my collection that I have driven over the years - still think to old 2800 / 3300 / 3600 space cab was one of the best looking trucks about.this was the first truck i drove when i started for wilsons of boroughbridge in 1992. good photos
Hi, I’m looking to contact Patrick 68. Patrick mentioned a DAF 2600 that belonged to Winteringham Haulage a while ago, well my brother used to drive that truck and I’ve been in it too, I’ve heard it has recently had a full restoration.
I’m looking to try and trace the truck and the owner.
Can you help?

I don’t suppose anyone would happen to have one of a Stardes DAF with the original more discreet (plain prussian blue / silver stripe) livery, from the very early nineties? Thanks!
Next time i’m back in the yard i’ll ask the boss to dig some photos out. I started at Stardes about 14yrs ago, and had a 3300 as my first truck there. Unfortunately it wasn’t a spacecab, but it went like a steamtrain, and still looked like a ‘proper truck’. Have to admit I still prefer the old livery - but hey, thats progress!

Thanks gb1 It is possible that we overlapped as I was there for about a year or so during 90-91. Do you remember a chap called Alec, who was in charge of maintainance, and… I’m trying to think who else I remember from that time… a great chap called Terry (who I was on a Runrig tour with) ? Terry left a bin-liner full of beers for me in the office, my share off the rider, that had been stored in his wagon as he had more space!

Sorry, dont recognise the names, but you may remember Noaksey, Badlad, Tiny, Rambo, or Becky, all of whom I think were there at that time. Rambo and Becky are still here. Tiny drives for TransAm, and Badlad now drives nightliners for Beat The Street. Don’t know whats happened to Noaksey, but last saw him about 4yrs ago at Stagetruck. Did a Runrig tour towards the back of 2007. Had my trailer written off when a punter coach ran in the back of it at 3am near Odense. Coach written off too, but fortunately no injuries other than whiplash to me.

Yeah, I remember Becky, who I think I saw once at the Apollo in Manchester. The other names ring a bell but I didn’t really meet many other drivers. Apart from the Runrig tour I was on for university / smaller venue type tours and one-offs with just one wagon. With Runrig the crack was great, especially as Terry and I got on so well. The 4 Of Us were also really good to work for, but after that though there were some bands that were a lot less fun
The chief mechanic I remember as being Alec but it was a long time ago. Could have been Alex, Alan… nice bloke anyway but he did leave Stardes shortly after me. I don’t know where he went. I went back to University and carried on with the agencies in the vacations. Is Dave “D Harvey Steinberg” still running the show? If so say hello from J-P - he might just possibly remember me. Or then not

Ken Goodwin used to do a tank job running glucose from France to most places in the UK,I did a holiday relief for him one week. This would be about 1976.
His brother Roy was also a nice bloke,I believe it was he who started working for Hoyers which got them started in the UK.
ian roy is still on for hoyers .ken did do the glucose for many years i think it was up untill he went in the office with roy jones .
Is Roy Jones at Brits now?
He was doing something on his own last time I spoke to him
roy jones left brits and went to work for the queen in the mail bag department .then he went to ibis then armet .and i think he as retired now

Don’t know this Roy Jones,he was after my time.I did know Davey Jones who I heard had passed away.
I also heard that Bob Matthews had passed away,he and I did our first M/E trips together,we did quite a few Baghdads on the trot.
Another laid back mate was Arthur Sproson,or Sprowy as he was known, also passed away I heard.
Better get my book written,Old Father Time is breathing down my neck I think!
