I think everyone’s just getting a bit confused, you can refuse to do anything you like on grounds of being tired.
Your employer, asking you to reduce you rest to 9 hours up to 3 times per week is not & will never be an unreasonable request.
It’s purely up to you if you agree & how your firm is set up as to wether you want to do it or not.
Only glanced through this thread but am I right in thinking that at somepoint someone has ‘come out’, if so kudos to them for their bravery but a truckers forum is probably not the best place to begin ones journey, then again perhaps it is

Nope, the only one who I know is actually gay on here has never made an issue of it or tried to hide it.
A comment was mis-read by a complete ■■■ and blown out of all proportion which then got into a slanging match, hand bags at dawn and spiralled out on it’s own tangent in the usual TN way.
All you really need to know is that the OP is a lazy good for nothing office worker with a HGV licence who wants the world to revolve around him

And I certainly don’t care what my work mates think of me, as I always prescribe to two philosophies. 1 sticks and stones and all that. 2 Work hard for myself and my family and ■■■■ who that annoys. On the subject of hours, why are there so many heroes who want to work all hours of the day? If you can find and afford to live off a job of say 9-10 duty hours, so what? I do and ditched a 60 hour week and about £30 per week to have more time with my family and no manual handling/nights out etc.
You can work days, nights, weekends etc for what? To be just another number on a payroll listing. Work 'til you drop your employer wont give you a George Cross they’ll just find another mug to take your place.
Because to these dinosaurs, and there are plenty of them, you are not a proper trucker if you’re not prepared to do 70 hours per week, every week, and ask ‘how high’ when the boss says ‘jump’. Presumably doing two blokes’ worth of work a week in some way validates their truck driverness, I really don’t know, but any normal person would probably ■■■■ themselves laughing when they heard such an argument.
If it wasn’t for the mugs who are prepared to work every hour god sends for a decent wage the money situation would have sorted itself out many years ago. Instead, contrary to what they like to preach, they actually drag the majority of the industry down to their level.
What you mean by complying with EU driving law, folk are doing too much work?
Talking of mugs, it never ceases to amaze me that there are drivers out there prepared to START work between the hours of 00.00 and 05.00 (often for barely more than minimum wage).
