We all know what this job entails so my view is if asked to have a short break have one if you want to be awkward remember that an employer can soon find a way to get rid of someone who wants to be always causing a fuss. i like the genuine replys from the guys who realise that working with management is a 2 way thing .
… although the tone of your post - “always do what management says” - indicates that it’s very much a one way thing.
Seriously, I think that if the company want me to help them out by reducing my break occasionally, that’s fine. If it comes to being expected to do it twice a week, every week, then I might start refusing just to make a point. After all, it’s a two way thing.

I wouldn’t know how much sleep a gay person needs, Goldilox said they stayed with their boyfriend. I was assuming they were a woman and not a man
Provided Goldilox is a lady and not a homosexual…? so do you think gays need more sleep than a lady which you put in your post ■■?
Are you deliberately twisting what I wrote or do you not understand it. Once again, read this nice and slowly, 3 or 4 times then think about your reply. Goldilox said they stayed with their boyfriend. I was trying to ascertain if the poster was male or female. Hence the are you female or gay comment. I do not and have no desire to know the sleeping patterns of homosexual men. However, I’ve noticed countless women down the years that need at least 8 hrs. Whilst myself and most other male drivers I’ve parked with over the years seem to get by on 5-7
OVLOV JAY wrote:Provided Goldilox is a lady and not a homosexual, I would not be surprised at needing over 8 hours sleep, as most women I’ve shared nocturnal habits with, need a hell of a lot of sleep. My wife needs nearer to 10 hours and she doesn’t even work. Don’t get me started on her mother, fat lazy [zb] needs 18-20 hrs a day
yes ive read it really slowly 3 or 4 times then read it fast 3 or 4 times and I still see your homophobic remarks saying gays don’t need as many hours sleep as women…

Either someone had a sense of humour bypass or out for an arguement. I mum on your sode ovlov as I see that you Are not being homophobic!!!
i do think there should be some sort of rule change to allow for what type of vehicle you are running, if a day cab then 12 hours max work… if a sleeper cab tramping or occasional night out then ok the current rules work ok but they are not working very good for the day cab driver anymore, more and more companies running daycabs are planning max hours for the driver, who then once back at base and maxed out as to get home ect ect, …
however, i agree with Luke on the way the op has maybe worded it but he does sound a bit unhelpful ect, i,m sure in the interview it was yes of cause i,m flexible ect, in reality??

No in the interview they don’t ask you that! They sent someone home on holiday the other day as he was “to tired” to work so you don’t need to be flexible.
Maybe i did word it wrong and not state the all the facts in the first place but if you re read my posts then you will see that i have wrote them.
I think this this post is dead now its like a playground in here

Ok if you look at it like that I have already reduced my rest but after I got out and had eaten and everything else it would of been 5hours “rest”
If I have a long week then ill “reduce” my rest to get my hours up or if need to start early to finish early ill “reduce”
The rant I was making was being asked or being made to feel bad for not reducing because the blokes a [zb] [zb]
So you’re happy to reduce on an early day for some extra coin or an early bath on Friday, but you won’t do it to help your firm out, when you have already reduced, which more than likely another driver had to cover who did less than 13. He will probably be working after you on Friday too. It’s a shame your attitude is becoming more prevalent in our industry There’s only one bloke who’s a [zb]
Depends though, doesn’t it? If the bloke he works for is a ■■■■ all round then why on earth should he do anything to benefit the firm? I certainly wouldn’t, in fact before the inevitable and I walked I would make sure to be the biggest pain in the arse he had ever employed.

I think it’s just getting started. It’s gone from a row about safety and law to me being accused of sharing views similar to nascar lovers. I urge rikki to put 4aaaa4dd on pre mod, before I sue the publishers for slander
Right, I’m off to the newsagents to put loaded in front of gay times magazine

What have i started…
I was only having a rant about being made to feel bad for not wanting to come back after a 9 off and i get called a lazy Dr do little, awkward driver that only does things to suit me. when that isnt the case… to you being made out to be homophobic

Often catch 22 though, some companies treat a driver badly because the driver treats them badly. I’ve worked for so many companies that drivers slag off yet I wonder if they’re working for the same company!
Well we’re all entitled to our opinions. From the ridiculous through to the outrageous. Fair play to you having a rant, and like you say you didn’t stick up all the facts in the op. I thought you left coop, didn’t realise you had gone back. Different ball game. They have the ability to overcome it when a driver doesn’t want to have 9 off. I made my replies in the context of you working in a general firm. I apologise for implying you were lazy, tbh rog was pushing my buttons at the time

You are correct of course, but equally there are a hundred and one firms out there who will get Driver X to “just do us a favour mate” and then ■■■■ on him from a great height before the week is out!!
As with all those kinds of arguments there is always two sides.
prob is, and i have seen it from both sides and i am as guilty as any boss ect in respect of, you can have lets say 20 drivers working for you all on same wages, terms, ect, however when push comes to shove and something needs to get done not all of these 20 drivers will do it, i would say maybe 7 out the 20 will simply say no! maybe another 5 will sometimes do it with a bit of a carrot dangled, another 5 will do it if it fits in with them, and the rest will always say yes, so who as an employer do you go to? but is it a fair system? i dont think so but even i abuse the good drivers cos i know they will say yes…
