Small vans - 62mph Why?

Of late I’ve noticed loads of Transit Connect and similar sized vans with 62mph stickers on them. What’s the idea? just fuel saving I suppose but it’d ■■■■ me off on the motorways. I know we are limited less than our motorway limit but that’s a legal thing, presumably this is just some bean counting.

Several reasons for companies doing it, fuel economy, company image (your average middle lane hogger doesn’t like white van man speeding past them or trying to get them to move over. ), insurance,

Yet coaches carrying 60 or so people can do 62 too ! The coach drivers are even more gutted since they lost the 3rd lane entitlement !

Try going to Romania in an automatic Sprinter restricted to 58! :imp:

there was a works luton we used to have that was limited to 56 as well…

sorry to hijack the thread tho but on top of the speed issue would any vans be on a tacco?

Save fuel.

Dunno we’ve just been looking for a Transit, found one with a tacho head in it, Odd considering it didn’t have a towbar.

You’re starting to sound like that other bloke on here. What’s his name? Harry someone.

I hope this helps.

Its annoying to be sat at 62mph but company rules. And also saving fuel and enviroment.
Does get annoying on moterways but i just live with it

I think vans over 3.5t are on tacho. The works sprinter is a 3.5t van, limited to 68mph, no tacho. It’s a PITA when overtaking in the fast lane and the person in the middle lane increases thee speed because they can’t drive at a constant speed.

If it’s restricted it can’t go in the outside lane of the motorway, unrestricted it can.

as asked on another thread, can you show me the LAW that covers this please?

That’s only if its a goods vehicle over 3.5t or I think an old 3.5-7.5t

Don’t get drawn into the ‘‘E’’ word mate. Saving the environment is just BS originally started from the EU which is code for ‘‘happy tax’’.

i remember when i was a kid i went for a spin with a family member and he was in a van but it had a tacho fitted if i remember right… but as i say i was only a kid and cant remember exactly… only reason i was wondering is about the tacho is basical apart from the obviouse weight diffrance… your still on the road for 9 hours a day ect and still driving long distances regular… so shouldnt you be takeing your break ect?

If our lot caught us doing less than 68 there’d be disciplinary action!

I got overtaken by a bus carrying people on a single carriageway road on a blind corner. ■■■■ comes to mind.

Why is it trucks are limited and coaches are not. They are carrying people and trucks are carrying stuff
