Any on here that just do this on a daily basis?
I did RORO for about 4 months, got fed up of being up to my knees in ■■■■ all day at landfill sites. The smell never leaves you! Skips was not as bad as they never went to landfill, they just went to customers and brought it back to transfer station to be sorted into recycling and landfill.
Done ro ro for years mate. Can be aggro but home every night pretty set hours etc and ok money.
Always considered Recycling a growth business! Especially around my way! (Enfield)

Went past your yard at Bow the other night! It looked like a WW2 bomb site!!
Yeah mate we are very busy at the moment. Work for a company called McGrath bros in hackney mate.
I’ve worked for a fair few firms in that game though.
i know it i drive past the depot every morning
do they work weekends there for the roro?
I’m surprised how slow the fitting of automatic sheeting has been on skip wagons. A major player around Oxford has just bought their first 2 with said system. Still see drivers on roro’s struggling on a 40yard bin (or whatever they’re called now) with the old style flysheet, and not just jippo type firms with clapped out motors either.
I’m on roro at the moment on artics, been doing it for 4 years. Money’s very good, although a lot of hard graft and shovelling involved. We do a lot of bakery waste, as in bread and dough which we mill into animal foods.

Yeah they do don’t have casual drivers though it’s all full time. They are looking for a couple of roll on drivers army the moment.

Now I can tell our drivers what you do; Someone saw one of yours on the A34 and I heard them ask what you carried.

Thats the majority of it, we also do cereal, veg waste and you’ll sometimes see us with a tanker on up and down the A34 carrying yeast to a couple of farms round oxford and witney areas ! Hope that helps Nathan…

Yeah mate I got one who you work for epd?
Nice steady work …
Did it for Sugarich on agency for quite a bit. Steady Eddie work. After a while you got used to the smell and also worked out how to do the job without getting covered in muck. The only downside was when doing compactors and picking up from Walkers Crisps because you’d end up shovelling some into the empty as some always spilled out the back of the full one.

we have certainly put a bit of gear in to that job.

Really dense stuff and can be a pain if it’s not been rammed into the skip. A load of dough sat on the rear end can make it fun loading the skip as well as driving it.
