Absenteeism manager- where have these come from,I thought you just rang depot when sick
Purple card- told I should have one( I haven’t) ,what are they about
Return to work interview - I thought you just turned up and carried on with work when better, what’s the s.p on this

It’s called procedures, sign of the times i’m afraid.
Hahahahahaha!
They’ll have a ‘too long in the loo’ manager next.
And a ‘uses too much bog roll’ manager.
I propose a new one. What about a ‘complete waste of time and company money manager’…
Don’t be ill children, or you’ll have a chinless wonder on your back…
Sickness is now classed or considered a disciplinary matter in most jobs. All recorded etc so that they have something to beat you with when they feel it necessary!
Just to add there are approx. 6 managers/supervisors now at my place just to get me out the gate - adds about an hour a day onto my wages!
And there’s a couple to debrief me on my return for another hour a day!
Crack on with the cost cutting I say.

when I’m next in the office ill get a picture of the “toilet roll procedure” stuck on our toilet wall
Saw a sign on a notice board somewhere saying that toilet breaks were 10 minutes max and any longer was a minimum 1/4 hour deduction from wages…

What happens if you’re constipated.

Or have a weak prostate! I suppose you could offer the manager the opportunity to check it!
Back to work interviews are pretty much widespread nowadays.
Can’t remember what company it was but if I land there again and spot it I’ll grab a photo, couldn’t believe it myself.
Not sure how they’d enforce it though tbh.
Have you seen the colour chart above the urinals, so you can check your hydration level?

have these on most sites i deliver to.
saying that, one of the sites i deliver too was on dinner break. Instead of eating/chilling they were running round the yard throwing breeze blocks at each other. Some people need all the handholding they can get.

It’s got ■■■■ all to do with the company what and when you drink.
In a lot of places, they pay you a pittance and treat you like ■■■■■■ then patronise you in to the bargain.
The world has gone mad.

when i was on the busses, you were allowed 3 sick days/3 months or it was a trip to the office for tea with no biscuits! if you hit 6 days it was a final written warning and any more, that was it! you were handed your cards and off down the road!
I had a run of ill health toward the end of my time, and was off with a sick note from the doctor for about 6 weeks, they sent an inspector up to the house to hand deliver a letter to me asking me to come in for a meeting with the boss to see how things were going! I was out in the pub, with a mate (FYI id had an operation and had been told no driving/lifting ETC ETC no where was i instructed not too sit in the pub all afternoon!) anyhow, i went to the meeting with the boss and got an absolute BLASTING for not being sat at home when i was on the sick!! What a joke, these companies expect to run your lives for you and to be at their beck and call 24/7… I didnt last too much longer after before i walked!

In a previous career I know someone who had a formal disciplinary for having bowel cancer. They actually got financially penalised under Bradford scoring for having to attend the follow up appointments.

Anybody reading the above who considers unions an irrelevance at best and dinosaurs at worst needs to have a good long think. That type of abhorrent behaviour is the future gentlemen.
I had NEVER even heard of a “Bradford score” until i googled it! its a cruel, cruel tool!
It provides a useful benchmark tool enabling managers to have an assessment score for an indivdual staff absence record. The Bradford Factor does not take into account any specific factors such as disability, or a short term, but recurring illness causing sporadic absenteeism over a period of weeks
AWFUL!!

Cancer is a disease that puts the patient under the protection of the disability discrimination act. The company has to make reasonable provision to allow you attend medical appointments for that disease. The definition of “reasonable” is not set in law as what might be reasonable for a large company could be less so for a smaller enterprise.
But if the Bradford scoring then stops you receiving certain payments such as yearly “bonuses” that he had met all the criteria for apart from sickness or the ability to attend/apply for courses/promotions/transfers, even when those courses are 100% essential for their role, then although the “company” have allowed you time for visits/treatment it still has penalised you for taking time off, including using the formal procedure including HR interviews.
This could be peculiar to that particular HR as they were a nightmare and this was just one of many many incidents over several years. Also I think we may have been exempt from protection under the disability act due to the role but I may be very wrong on that.
- when I mean apply for courses I mean as in not allowed to apply due to the Bradford score not that he just was unavailable due to his treatment.

They had the ‘bradford factor’ at co-op once upon a time apparently once you’d worked the system out it wasn’t too bad if you played it right. The system they had at co-op when I was there was quite black and white, however if that was played right you could take a lot of paid time off and they couldn’t do anything.
I could play it that we’ll it sounded like Flute Concerto No. 2 In D Major
