I was going to comment that it was a union plug but didnt I am a member in good standing of the teamsters I forgot to tell BFS that when I worked there.
Big Jon’s dad:
The report also details new information on number of TFW entries to Alberta, and finds that TFW entries in 2009, despite the recession, were the same as 2007 numbers. Furthermore, TFW entries now substantially outpace new immigrants, showing that our province has now become a revolving door for a disposable workforce, rather than a welcoming place where immigrants come to build their lives.
“Our findings have shown that despite much higher unemployment, particularly among young Albertans, we continued to bring in thousands of Temporary Foreign Workers for low-skilled occupations,” says McGowan. "This suggests that the TFW program was never about a labour shortage. It was - and is - about suppressing normal wage growth for the lowest-income Albertans and TFWs working in lower-skilled occupations," adds McGowan. Now look who the report comes from. They wouldn’t be in the least bit biased would they, oh no. Would they be following an agenda, yep. Would that agenda be helping TFWs, nope, they are just a convenient hook to hang their campaign for workers rights on. Unions, love 'em or hate 'em, eh?
TFW, what does that mean? There is a clue in the first word. The whole idea of TFW is that they leave after a period of work. It isn’t supposed to be a route to immigration. The prospect of PR is one of the carrots used to attract TFW but the TFW should not expect it as an automatic right.
If you had seen me ■■■■■■■■ and whining all over the place, you would have seen this which I posted, and have repeated…
If you are a trucker who has got a job offer in Canada via PNP, and you are telling all and sundry that you are emigrating to Canada.
You are NOT emigrating to Canada !
When you get an LMO (labor market opinion), the LMO simply allows you to enter Canada as a TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER if you are granted a TEMPORARY work permit.
PR (permanent residency) can not be guaranteed by ANY company to a TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER, and you may be required to leave the country at any time.
Don’t burn your bridges, and if you want to live in a great country, bring your kids up in a safer, calmer environment, and meet some great people, then keep your head down, keep your mouth shut, and ■■■■ it up!
and yes, you do go on about your own situation , ie you are the worlds greatest businessman, and can’t wait to tell us all how business works (I had my own very successful business for 12 years, not trucking) so I do know how it works!
Seeing you suggested many posts ago that ‘your work was done here’… I will now ignore all your posts on any subject, and I suggest you so the same with mine.

Teehee, touchy aren’t we? You lose! Missed your anger management class this week? Breath in, exhale, count to 10. Better now? Never mind, I’m back at work from Tuesday so you won’t have to read so much of my guff, but I guess you won’t see this anyway will you? Everyone else will though…
Doesnt matter where his work has been. He has kids who live in Canada and drive here. I am sure they talk about it. As for the requirements they are basically the same for all, you could be a electrical worker here on Temp work perm and the same rules apply. Its just doubtful they would have you sitting in the shop waiting for work.

His kids are not paid by the mile long haul, two are salaried and one is hourly paid.

If they did (have you sitting waiting), should you expect to be paid for it, or ■■■■ it up?

Just find a company that pays waiting time (I did ) and move on

More like smart.

It doesn’t ■■■■ well matter if they are hourly wage, salaried, or paid in peanuts the same rules apply. I drove long haul, still do when I wish to go. Right now I have other concerns and don’t go out very long. I had my share of sitting around the drivers lounge, sitting for 3 or 4 days somewhere at a truck stop. Even BFS allows you to get your own loads if you can and they pay you an extra $50.00 if you do. Most of the time when I got in I asked if there was something they needed brought to the yard for re-power or leisure craft to bring up they needed help with. The problem with helping out people like Tom Van Dam, you become noticed and then any time you cant do something for them you get ■■■■ upon for something, that would otherwise have been ignored. That’s why they cant keep people they promise all the loads and miles to keep you going but when you get there it is a different story. Their ■■■■ shop is one of their biggest problems causing drivers extra off time. The man they have running it is the village idiot doesn’t have a clue on how to plan when a truck goes down that and they are so concerned about servicing and repairs on other companies trucks they put you at the last of the list… They don’t maintain their trucks, even though they have this maintanece schedule program. Antifreese leaks that go on till you are stuck somewhere on the road. My truck had just been in for its inspection next day I went out to do my pretrip there was over a gallon of antifreeze under it. Took it to Volvo, they said they fixed it, what a joke, the power steering cooler was leaking they fixed nothing. Almost every trailer I ever used there I had to get lights or something fixed on before I could go.

Of course it matters.
They say I worked 40 hours dad, and I got paid for 40 hours, or I’m salaried dad, I know exactly how much I will get next moth, so there is NO comparison with OTR, and different rules apply!
You have then gone on to describe scenarios which wouldn’t effect an hourly paid or salaried drivers wage!
Ok Mcduff what is the topic of this discussion. It is Short Term Work in Canada. For that you need a Temporary Work Permit or Visa. It doesn’t matter if they pay you in peanuts Oreo cookies whatever the same rules apply for getting the Work Visa and that’s what it is a Visa, for a specified amount of time. The Ministry of Immigration doesn’t give a Rats ■■■ how they pay you as long as it is in the contract the company provides. OTR isn’t even in the immigrations vocabulary. Dont confuse the issue here, dont add to it something that is irrelevent.
Brentanna:
Ok Mcduff
Pathetic.
Ive been sat watching this thread develop for a while now…
I could if i wanted to, do some OTR work while being paid hourly … (Bob knows the job im on about as i mentioned it to him a while back) I choose not to at the present time as it suits me to be home every night after doing my 8:30 till 5:30 shift
but another point… mick your posts have become so boring, why do you even bother to post the same old crap anymore? its the same stuff you were spouting off about 2 years ago… 2 years man, get over it , its not worth it. Yes it may help warn other immigrants about the pitfalls of working for one of the scummy employers (names left out so i dont get sued). But anyone who comes over without reading up on the country and prospective employers is a mug, and tbh deserves to fail. I spent a good year or so researching my move, getting information on different places to live etc… and I’m glad I did, as it prepared me for some of the problems I faced when I got here. So … ■■■■ it up boy, and move along.

They can’t sue you for telling the truth, and you must realise that if the negative posters like me are shut up, then they (the researchers) will ONLY get one side of the story, and that’s the good side which is sold by the company.
We did plenty of research and there was bugger all negative about H&R at that time.
I realise it’s boring, but, so what? Don’t read my posts if they upset you enough to make a post!.
BTW: You had dual citizenship didn’t you?
Not quite the same as going over as a TFW is it?
As for moving on? It takes mins to post on here then I carry on with my comfortable life, why are you so concerned about me?

You would have liked to wouldn’t you?
Perhaps you should take some lessons from the other keyboard warriors here!
Was going to call you a mental midget but I was told that was against the board rules. I have a bit of an advantage when talking about immigration policy and procedures. I can pick up the phone and call either my father who was superintendent of Customs and Immigration Canada West. or I can call my sister who is with immigration in Ottawa. Either way the answers are going to be the same. The labour laws vary from province to province but the immigration is all federal including TWV.
Brentanna:

Wow, I’m impressed, no, I really am, is this a game of braggin’ rights?
Is this where I say my **** is bigger than yours?
Why not call your Dad or Sis and ask what they are doing about companies like H&R and BFS instead of just passing little insults to posters on here?
Customs and Immigration cant do anything about them they have a right to be in business… They also have the right to apply to get Temp workers if they cant hire enough local. BFS is in Steinbach, along with 3 better trucking companies who dont get overseas workers. See the point here all they have to say is due to the local labour market they cannot hire enough drivers. Done nothing the government can do they cant force them to open offices in other areas. As for insults I doubt your name is Mickfly so calling you Mcduff really isnt an insult. You are the one who insisted on saying OTR was differnt than hour its not not according to the rules of the TWP/TWV. Your are the one who started with me when I posted that it did not make a difference if I insulted your male ego to ■■■■ bad.
Is this where I say my **** is bigger than yours?
Hehehehe I should hope so since I dont have one of those.
As for bragging right not at all I can obtain the actual information from close by without being on hold for half the day, and I know it is accurate. That is after all what this is all about giving people who are looking at Temp Work accurate information. Not all trucking jobs are paid per mile. Alot are done on hourly, doesnt mean that you have to stick to that job you can use it to get here and start applying elsewhere starting as soon as you arrive.
By the way the front licence plate on my truck was: ( Kitten to ■■■■■ in 3 seconds ) very accurate

Can I, as a non Canadian get an LMO and a Temp Work Permit for an hourly paid trucking job in Canada?
