That’s nothing. I joined the M6 northbound from the M5 today at just after 4.30 PM. That was proper challenging.
Dunno if he would like it in Canada though as he doesn’t do fridge work. It’s all fridge work for 6 months of the year even if you pull a flat!
oh come on nothing like being N60 in - 60 with 60

Ha, gotcha . I’m not an experienced trucker. I was once a wannabe trucker and got the licence but not the job. My kids got both. I’m a repair guy that sticks his nose in here from time to time.
Just to confuse you even more, I’m a Canadian living and working in the UK. I was born in the UK but became a Canadian when I lived there as a child. My kids now live and work in Canada.
Canada has a strict immigration policy. You can’t just stoll up to the desk when you get off the plane and tell the border guard you’ve come to look for a job. You need authorisation before you arrive in the form of a work permit or permanent residency ticket. My kids and I don’t have that problem as we have citizenship cards.
Hell I must have really fooled him I am not a chap or a guy, but I do drive truck ; well at least I did when I could actually fit between the steering wheel and seat.

Teehee, I reckon we’re all a bit weird here. At least you can drop your belly in a little while. I’m stuck with mine. Doc keeps telling me to diet so I’m on a see food diet.
so now we are getting somewhere!! I have been reading stuff on here for a while now, and was becoming a little wary of some posts coments.now i know that most people, sertainly in the uk, dont hold us truckies in the highest of regard.I can understand this as the standard is, in my view,is getting worse.there are too many east european “drivers” here now, many of whome are working on dodgy licenses. however, there are many good ivans here too! our home grown variety are not generally too bad, exept for the tipper drivers who, again, in my opinion, have to have a labotomy as condition of employment.I ,like most in this industry, came to be driving as a last resort.coming from an agricultural back ground, the good old E U… ended mine and many others career in the friut growing buisness. Now hear i am, firmly hooked in the world of road haulage, i am more qualified than our management, holding international cpc,and all your usual haz tickets etc, having transported loads from crawler cranes to tunel boring machines as well as aquireing thousands of hours of crane experience. I am very aware that if i head for canada, i shall have to start at the bottom, as a truckie, working for the types of firms that cant or wont get canadian drivers,we have the same thing going on here too, companies are trying to drive down wages!.
Riiiight, OK.
Did you come looking for answers to specific questions or just to tell us about your exploits?
Have you a job arranged in Canada yet?

Your international cpc sould come in real handy over here as they speak french over in Quebec so you could get yourself a job running over that way.
Do you have standing & seating tickets to see haz ? never seen them play live but would love too.

stop I am laughing so hard it is starting to hurt
I was alway taught that self belief is a good thing, self delusion is a highway to calamity…

well, i am looking for answers to questions. 1st i am looking at a company called Elite Driver Training Services ltd. run by an Alan Clowes, in New Brunswick.I have an application pack from this company and would like some opinions on this firm, for example, is there anyone out there who has used the services and is now working in canada as a truckie?? I am heading out to Toronto in the summer for a wedding and will hopefully meet mr clowes while there. according to the liturature, the company provide all that is required, ie driving test, immigration services and job placement, all at a price, of course. i just would like some feed back from others that have used these services.
gee thanks, as a tipper driver in canada and someone who always wanted to drive a truck i have some bad news for you, your …thousands of hrs crane experience mean nothing over here unless the crane operators union says so .
to operate a crawler crane in canada you must be a union member and they decide what job you get… ,unless its a mickey mouse job but even then you will be noticed!!.
this information came from a summer /fall drinking with the crane operators ,banksmen, riggers from able cranes .
ohh and bye the way your cpc,haz tickets, lgv licence mean less than nothing over here, have a nice day

Are you aware that Toronto is over 1000 km from NB? To obtain a driver’s licence you have to exchange your UK car licence for a provincial licence. You can’t do that until you can prove you are legally resident in that province. In other words more than a visitors visa. You will need something like a utility bill or bank statement with your address on as well as proof of residency status. Once you have obtained a local car drivers licence you can take the test for bigger vehicles. Job placement won’t work unless the company you are being placed with has a valid LMO.
If you don’t know what an LMO is yet, you haven’t done enough research. Come back when you have figured it out. LOL.

Lots of jobs in Canada are regulated in similar ways. It is not easy to get into a trade if you don’t do an apprenticeship.
Most qualifications obtained outside Canada are not recognised. Some provinces won’t even accept out of province qualifications, you have to sit the local exam.

well hello jimbo47… no offence meant m8, just most tipper guys over here tend to make the rest of us look bad!! I am more than aware that my obvious inferior license and rubish qualifications along with being a foriegne devil will put me at some what of a disadvantage in your country.however, you need not fear for your job as all i will be offered, if any, will be the sort of long haul, weeks away stuff that you and you country men wont do. Remember, you like to, i dare say like to be home most nights. I am more than happy to start at the botttom, i have nothing to hide. And ,blowing my own trumpet, again, would be delighted at the chalenge of matching you guys.

Is French your first language? Just wondering, that’s all.
hahahahahahaha stay home at nights this guy is cracking me up. Well cant say that isnt true the sleeper is kinda home for most of the time. I was lucky to get home for a couple days every 2 weeks, if I was still able to drive I would be on the road for 2 weeks at a time. This is better than Benny Hill reruns.

All this information i have, now i know that yer self and others enjoy to ridicule the likes of myself…it is so easy to disrispect people without knowing them. this media makes it all the more simple to do this, however i feel that it would be far more rewarding for all concerned if there was a little regard for others intelect, all be it in my case, only as a stupid english truckie. like i have said, i would not be an economic migrant, i would be there for the"crack". for here i am rather bored!!
Being serious now:
Do you have Canadian citizenship?
Do you have a PR card?
Do you have a TWP?
Do you have a job offer from a company with a valid LMO?
If you can’t answer yes to one of the above questions, you can’t work in Canada.
Why you want to work in Canada is not relevant.
