I am now completely lost, I dont understand brentannas tirade about " It’ nor this post from BTD. I think i shall go for a snooze :open_mouth:

I was born with hermaphrodism, so being born with all my female organs and internal partial male organs has been rather an issue in my life. The male organs are non functional, my female organs all are functional. Some of the drivers at BFS kept refering to me as a ■■■■■■ and I am not, I have no wish to have male organs attached to the outside of my body thank you.

I was even told by the boss of the company to, and I really do quote his exact words… “■■■■ it up Mikey boy, it’s the Canadian way” when I was given 4 days to drive 600 miles.

Shouldn’t the Canadian gov’t or YOU Canadian drivers be doing something to stop the constant turn around of Brits/Dutch/Belgian/German drivers

I wonder what was said prior to the bosses retort, eh?

It is not in the interest of either the Canadian Government, or the other drivers to bend over to help economic migrants. It is in their interest to keep the highest quality migrants and get rid of the rest. Sorting the wheat from the chaff. There is no requirement for more riff raff, we have enough of our own home grown variety. The crap companies do a fine job of testing out how resiliant adaptable and resourceful the TFWs are. Those that can adapt, and overcome the difficulties, stay, the others who were less flexible leave and Canada is better off without them. It isn’t a perfect system but so long as there is a renewable source of TFWs it is sustainable.

Completely, totally and in the strongest terms disagree. It is costing everyone, government, tax payers and companies a fortune for failed TFW when by and large the companies are to blame for the standard of the recruits and then the treatment, or mis-treatment, of the TFW.

Take this man outside and shoot him! How dare he disagree in those terms!

How is it costing everyone? I would suggest it would cost everyone plenty if poor quality immigrants were allowed to enter and stay in Canada. Better they get weeded out before they arrive but otherwise get shot of them as soon as they are found to be unsuitable. :sunglasses:

Canada only wants migrants that are going to make a positive contribution to Canada. It does not want migrants that will be a drain on the public ■■■■■.
As someone else said employers provide jobs to employees for one reason, to make themselves money. Employers are not in business to be the social services.

Further to that it is not in drivers interests to have poor quality immigrant drivers bringing down the reputation of all truckdrivers.
As you know, driving in Canada requires more from a driver than driving in the UK and Europe. It doesn’t suit everyone but how can you find out who is suitable?
You could devise some sort of test, or you could let them try it for a period. The ones that can adapt to change pass, the others… Well, they leave. Sorted!

i am a very experienced truck driver/crane operator with over ten years continental and more uk time than i like to admit!!. currently in the construction sector driving wagon and drag with hiab crane. I am intending to work in canada before the year is out. Reading the posts here,i can see this will be some what of an adventure. For me it should be a little easier than for lots of other drivers, as i have worked for ,i consider, some of the most chalenging companies in southern england. From what i have read it seemes drivers expect an easy life as soon as they start. I dont do fridge work or supermarket deliveries.I work in the most challenging of conditions, think of the somme… this was last winter. the vast majority of uk truckies would never do/be able to do my job, tho would certainly enjoy the pay!.I just want to say that is no gain without pain. it is not about the money, there are no haulage firms that come neare to what i earn currently. It is the adventure!!!

Was this in the UK solent fox ? as i know they had some real bad weather this winter, if so then you`ll find the winters in Canada easy
Its also a stroke of luck that your use to large earnings as the pay for drivers out here is out of this world

I’m just wondering if the work & climate here would not be just to mundane for you Sir, and you would feel " under challanged "
Now i do here that they need " Rock hard " drivers of exceptional abilities in India, driving from Dehli up into the mountains to a Dam constuction project, the pay is crap, 5 rp a day, but as you say its not about the money its more the adventure.

Nice trumpet you have there Mr Fox.
Polish it often?
You blow it loud enough.

I think you will have no trouble getting into Canada as you are obviously well qualified at…, err what was it you do that Canada would want?

So my driving the ice roads is not as challenging?

So driving on sheet ice on the TC1 right across the nation is less challenging than plying the M1 with a load of sandbags for fortifying the revetements in the trenches?

So solly, jolly, but you is talking da bollix, innit.

Hauling a 50 ton substructure over the muskeg just before they close the roads for breakup boring as all hell dont know why you would want to came here and work in such a muldane conditions. Oh I can show you where the rig hauling the D10 cat went through the ice it is still on the bottom as far as I know.

There ya go, bullying again,
This guy has probably spent more time sitting on the M25 than you lot have driven in Canada!
He will be used to handling the heaviest sleet, and occasional light snow showers with temps down to a frightening minus 10, often working from dawn till lunchtime before stopping for his daily rest, and all for a measly five grand a week.
Leave him be.
