Got some memories of E C Transport. Not only low loaders but also the “Dangerous Brothers” with their own brand of hazardous goods! Can`t see those loads going far on a passenger ferry nowadays.

Hi Franglais you should come to a Sofa reunion in October and remenice with them again,no doubt there will be a lot more drivers you will know who will be there also.Regards Geoff

Hi Geoff. I do keep promising myself Ill come to the Portuguese reunion one year. Im still full time on the road, and really need to get my priorities sorted out I know, but soon, soon.

Looking at Deans pics of Ralphies black Scannies reminds me of (another) Roy Smith comment:
A bunch of us were in Cherbourg about to head south, when one suggests
“Were all light loaded so lets get going before those R. Davies get on the road. We dont wanna get held up." Roy, "No rush, weve got at least 15mins start on em. Itll take `em that long to charge their lights up”.
I dunno how that story comes over on the page, but Roy always had us in stitches.

We never needed 15 min head start, we made up our time while you were all sleeping! Zzzzzzzzz

¬Tis true that no matter how early I seem to start, or how quick I drive, or how short a route I choose there`s ALWAYS some-one front !

The only cold starts those scanias ever had was when the dealer delivered them

Franglais:
Just see a bit of boat past Teddy Bear`s cab. Looks like Spain somewhere??
Last time I saw Teddy Bear (several years back) he was living in Spain with a Russian girl who was working there.

Hi Franglais he is still living in Spain not sure where but he escorts wide loads. All the best Geoff

Not a nice day to be arriving, you never used to see it as empty as this in the day’s gone by.

Was there 2 weeks ago Cliff, went on a day trip as we had to go to collect a shower cubical from Brico Depot (B&Q £ 750, Brico 245 euro , both stores Kingfisher. Echo readers deal £40 return, ) and coming back there was a fair bit of freight and plenty of cars.

Hi Cliff it looks so deserted in your pic I suppose that is how it is these days as not many English firms ship this way any longer.I expect not having to clear any customs in the port also makes a difference. A sad sight for sure,at least we can remember the good times as they were back in the day.Cheers mate.
