Didn’t Mesguen mainly use Plymouth - Roscoff as their depot was only a couple of kms outside of the port? I seem to remember there’d always be a few of their trailers on that boat when I shipped out on Sunday night.
Craig
In the early days of roscoff to Plymouth with brittany ferries Mesguen used to ship unaccompanied trailers if I remember W .F (Freddie) Miners was doing a lot of traction
with all the French produce into the fruit and vegetable markets another Mary Hopkins moment as buzzer would say cheers dennis
I aint been on here for a while as locked out and been busy with stuff. Trying to catch up and dust some pics and get them on.
I always liked Poole. The only thing let it down was the food on purbeck & coutance .whenever possible i would book on the ferry then run up to chinese and get last pint in ferryman. Sometimes it didnt work and went ■■■■ up. Did anyone else have this problem?

They now have a depot in Cherbourg Craig as well as St Pol de Leon.
Ah, thanks for the info. It’s been quite a while since I was last up that way.
Also have had an office in Poole for about 25 years.

Truckline was originally started by a cooperation of French farmers to get their produce to the English markets.
A few more Poole regulars.
Out of intrest are Logans still going or have they packed up or been taken over ? They always had a smart
fleet of trucks.
this might be a little off the trail but I read that a mr fall was in a spot of bother and wondered if it was one of the old fall and carter company people,
Some of you may have come across this chap, occasionally in and out of Poole for AS Rawlings but driving a yellow Marathon for Ron Blackman. Ernie Bignall. Fully retired, minus the lower section of his left leg but full of life and memories. A bottle of red never far from grasp. A nudge from Geoff to post the photo here.
Hi gazzer thanks for posting the pics of Ernie and his truck.I met him quite a few times over the years,he was bit of a character glad to hear he still likes a drop of vino.Cheers Geoff
Geez I know that motor Geoff, JBG70P. Either the previous owner or the subsequent one, maybe in Southampton.
I’ve had a brain storm, John Glance may have bought after Davies owned it
Gazzer you are right it was John Glance who had it next I don’t know where John is now, think his Dad worked for Shell overseas somewhere. Eccentric chap I think he used to go skiing when he was weekended using 2 tilt boards as ski 's !!!
