Shipping out of and into Poole

It seems that too many threads are mentioning good old boys that did the job we all did
back in the day, that are no longer with us…The very latest known to me anyway is John Heaton whos
funeral is on the 19th of this month.
I guess its a sad sign of the times as none of us are getting any younger.
Its great that we all remenisce on these pages about the good old days, but sadly i dont think there will be
anyone in years to come to carry on with the banter.
I dont think that drivers doing the job today will be having reunions and still chatting about the job in 30 years time.
Dont mean to be morbid, its just a thought.

Mappo unfortunately you are correct it’s sad but don’t think the camaraderie is there anymore . Think we had the best times that’s why we talk the talk because we have walked the walk . Cheers dennis .

Oh dear, i did not know that Alex ten bellies had passed away. RIP lad.
Is Dave Williams still with Aicheson Topeca■■?.
klunk

No Klunk ,Dave left there a good few years ago. He is working for a company in Bristol pulling a tipper trailer.

Not forgetting Pat Luckman on for Kelvin Holloway in the Daf.

Nice pic Geoff , R & G motors always looked tidy.

Do you remember Catterall from Blackpool with the racing pigeons ? They used to sometimes ship four or
five lorries out on one boat. Must be some money in the Pigeon racing !

The man with the most bone crushing hand shake handshake Eric Slater all you ex Bunns ,and mid west fridge men, know who i am talking about, is he still around crushing hands, once shaken ,never again.what a gent.

In Cherbourg about 1973/4. I see that this is a 50 registered truck but right hand drive…never noticed it before.

Am I right in thinking that Bernie Thompson who had the ERF dustcarts in Cherbourg used to drive for Atkins ?
