Oh dear,This copyright thing is dominating this thread…as regarding Retiever capitalising on Rogers and Arthurs photos, well I see it like this,Retiever being passionate about lorries has managed to put together a good number of books using the photos from these photographers, all he’s done is bring their skills with his publishing expertise together allowing fella’s like us to reel back the years and enjoy pictures of lorries from yesteryear…he should be congratulated for doing it,also …poor old Roger Kenney passed away leaving a dependant family…what use are thousands of negatives/photos to his widow. These would have probably ended in a dustbin totally lost forever…again any payment however large or small would have perhaps eased some financial problems…all he’s done is protected precious memrobelia…
Copyright is a strange thing…every time Paul Macartney sings “Yesterday” he has to pay the Micheal Jackson estate for the priviledge…and he wrote the song!!..but Jackson bought the copyright for the song plus the rest of the Beatles work so he is protecting his assets…its a vastly smaller thing with the pictures from Rogers and Arthur but Retriever is protecting his assets…who can blame him.
Several on here cant/wont/dont understand, but when you are passionate about something you do anything you can to look after it.
I’m sorry to get on the soapbox.
No need to apologise Bubbs, with over half a million views and a thread that has never been off the front page for over three years I am sure that the silent majority on here can’t thank blokes like yourself, retriever and Phil enough for all the hard work, time and money that you have put in over the years. I bet that there is not one driver on here who hasn’t seen one of your old photos and thought oh yes I remember that company all those years ago.
Keep the thread going mate.
Hi then, good pics from Marcus22,Numbum and Pat…well done lads,Heres todays stuff.
Chard and Axminster Tpt ran 2 Clydesdales with sleepers like this,I think I’d have rolled those barrells up against the headboard or at least chucked a rope around them.Seen westbound M4
Going the other way on the M4 ,this “C” series ERF belonging to Frank Tucker is on contract to Westbrick.
Evans and Williams came from Letterston near Fishguard and is seen here with aggr…no agricu…no …farm machinery on its back
Seen passing Leigh Delamere services on the M4 this LHD Iveco is heading west,I dread to think what Harry and Dennis will say about the roping and sheeting
Southbound M5 for this FL10,heading home to its base near Exeter
Northbound M5 for this old Spiers ERF,Looks dated with a tandem on the back
Aston Clinton from Aylesbury…now part of Nobhead Donkeystrangler group

I don’t know, considering that he hasn’t got a lot to work with, those sheets have seen better days and whatever’s underneath them was obviously just thrown on the trailer, he’s done a decent job of it really, only the rip near the landing legs lets it down

At least you would know if you had immigrants on board
Hi Marcus. On a recent visit to my loft i found i still have every issue of TRUCK magazine, all in order and in their original binders!. Im sure its going to take ages reading through them all, and the whole collection is apparently worth a bob or two.
I might try and scan some stuff providing i dont fall foul of the copywrite police.
Just spent a few hours catching up on this excelent thread, Bubbs is the man.
Many years ago i pulled a step frame tilt on a LEP contract with Scanroute ( Scandinavian Freightway ) livery on it, anyone got any photos of them? if it had a white S.A. day cab pulling one would be nice, ( we all have dreams)
MarkR, any chance of scanning the Douglas Concrete feature from sometime in '92? It was when the 32gvw came in; I’ve got that mag in the loft but no scanner at the moment. Douglas have now disappeared into the Agg Industries stable along with Hartigan-Bucks Aggs amongst others…
The same issue if I recall, had a good feature on Davella when they had early Leyland Daf 95s…

Well said that man Bubbs .Now lets put it to bed and continue with this brilliant thread & long may it continue.
IMO the driver on the Chard and Axminster motor is what I would describe as a “double hander” and I wouldn’t pay him with the middles out of Polo Mints!! If he had to anchor up sharp those drums would probably kill some poor bugger although if they were M/T the wind could catch them and whip them off like depth charges!! either way the bloke is a “fully paid up ■■■■■■” Other people may,of course, have a different take on the photo!! Cheers Dennis.
