Hi Chris Have “Dodds” pulled the pin now as I did a few months for them in the late 80s and they were a good firm to work for I left as I was offered a job which paid quite a bit better but I enjoyed it there .
cheers Johnnie

I believe that they were in Southall, yes - perhaps on the old AEC site? They were originally known as Dodd’s of Acton.
Yes its a sad day when a firm like Dodds bites the dust, They were a good firm to work for I believe, I used to chat to some of drivers at Winthrops at Fawdon. They also in my oppinion had smart livery Blue & Red with the Union Jack went well together. What long standing British haulier will be next, none I hope, but the state this country is in it could be any one of them. I myself traded for 28.years & packed in some 11 years ago, when fuel hit high prices G.Brown did nowt to help the hauliers, nor did the RHA, so its history repeating itself once again. Regards Larry

Chris when I worked there the yard was off Wood Lane you turned right at the end of the BBC building going towards Shepherds Bush and at the bottom, the road went around to the left and you went straight on under the arches into the yard and Jimmy Dodd was the gaffer I had dealings with down there ,I am sure that Dave Pink was the gaffer at Sheffield then.
cheers Johnnie
