Hello again lads, heres another whole page advert from the 1964 ABC guide

Cheers Bubbs,

Aye P&S, Dixon Street, I used to load back off them in the 60s, With Twinings Tea, for delivery to Greenfield Sidings at Gateshead, for London & Newcastle Tea Co, [Fine Fare]. the load had to be triple sheeted for obvious reasons, Regards Larry

Hello again, heres another advert,I bet you backloaded from this crowd Lawrence…a lot on here did

Cheers Bubbs,

Aye I loaded many times off them in London, You could walk across Tower Bridge from the Hill where we all used to park, pick up a collection note & away to get loaded, I quite often loaded Industrial Cooking Ranges, I remember bringing some up for the 5, Bridges Hotel in Gateshead, & The Gosforth Park Hotel, Happy days down the old smoke, Larry.

Great engines in their day.

Hi again, heres another advert, this one from 1970,again from an ABC Good transport guide.Apologies that not all of the page is included, these things are as big as a telephone directory and dont bend very well also I dont want to damage it.

Cheers Bubbs,

Yes its very difficult, I have an old 1931 Roadway its contains allsorts info, but it is hard backed & the pages are very fine, so I cant take the risk of spoiling it, I came accross it in 1957 in an old office that was been cleaned out for the new owner on Newcastle Quayside, my mates laughed at me for wanting to save it, but in later years they used to ask If I still had it & wanted to borrow it, no way it stays where it is I said with me. Regards Larry

bubbleman:

Back to the black & white days. Anyone know the location. Is that the Liverpool Overhead Railway behind?

Hi again lads, nice old stuff from Rogers collection Robin…thanks for sharing them

Another page from an ABC guide, look at the hat on the driver…I recall some tanker lads having them and bus drivers being issued them but a general haulier expecting their men to wear a peaked cap like Hitler must have been a bit much   …Anyone on here wore one in the line of duty

Cheers Bubbs,
