Another from Roger Kenney to keep the party going!
Great photo of a classic british made Leyland Octopus, some of the finest wagons that were ever made, Drivers in the good old days like myself loved them, In my younger days in the 50s if you had a Leyland you were tops, they were a very reliable motor. Regards Larry.
A grand old Octopus from Forth the company i worked for,i think its load could be from the Whessoe works in Darlington.we moved a lot of their stuff to sites allover the country.Vic

That belongs to Rob and Lorraine Wilson who also own the garage its in. They are carrying out a restoration. A real piece of heavy haulage history there.

Reckon I kipped in one of those cabs when my Daf was in for service at Thornaby depot. I was distinctly unimpressed, seem to remember it was a Leyland Redline cab in origin.
you were probably thinking of the Scammell S24 reg XTM? That was a Redline cab like the Landtrain

Could be, it was a long time ago, but whatever it was I was thankful to get back to the Daf.
Didn’t happen again, after that 1st service from new they were serviced at our depot near Leicester.

I have a pic somewhere of a old Studebaker tipper truck, I’ll go for that.
Well you could be right, Studybakers were popular after the war finished, some of the opencast coal hauliers ran them, their problem was getting spares for them, Regards Larry

Hey Bubbs,
My late Dad worked for George Transport.
I have got a magazine article about them when they went over to Seddons & Guys.
If I can borrow a 9 year old from someone, I’ll get it scanned & post it on here
