A Merry Christmas to Marcus and fellow Scrapbook followers from Retriever
hiya,
Can I have one of these I do have a big stocking, bah my licence has run out, just leave it up the drive I’ll be able to sit in it and dream from time to time.
thanks harry long retired
Licence Harry?
When we started we didn’t need one, go on, take it round the block a few times but don’t complain to me about the pain in your arms and the calluses on your hands.
Talking about calluses, take those ropes and sheets off and get it tipped.
Now, ain’t ya glad you haven’t got a licence anymore?
But if not have a real good think before you ring for a reload (sorry, went all modern for a moment there, backload) and rope and sheet again in freezing sleet.
I’d do it all again like a shot if I could, and I’ve still got a licence.
hiya,
Don’t they come in eight legged curtainsider’s and the same in Dyson pups could manage the straps with instruction from a present day lad the calluses I can spend my day off trimming them off with a razor blade a la yesterday eh’ the steering on the AEC will be nice and light if my memory is still working, but the medical and the form filling the new rules and regs tachographs ( I was lucky enough to get the full stint of my driving career using logsheets/books worked for the local water board until retirement and we only used the drawing straight line system ) I’ve just talked myself and with your assistance, out of bothering to retake the reins, thank you.
thanks harry long retired.
Like Harry my licence is long gone but I would give a lot to have a day out with that AEC, and I’m sure us old lads could still do it. Show that thing to the young uns today and they wouldn’t know where to start. This thread bring back a lot of memories.

Another from Roger Kenney to keep the party going!
Great photo of a classic british made Leyland Octopus, some of the finest wagons that were ever made, Drivers in the good old days like myself loved them, In my younger days in the 50s if you had a Leyland you were tops, they were a very reliable motor. Regards Larry.
