Many thanks for showing the Commer cattle wagon of Sam Cottingham & Sons of West Witton , Leyburn ,
North Yorkshire . Son Miley retired nearly 40 years ago , and the business was taken over , but I cant remember who it was. Dark brown livery , with lighter brown stripes . I had posted Cottinghams
name on Yorkshire Livestock Companies ` thread at the beginning of this year .
To see a photograph of one of their fleet ( I am too young to remember that Commer ) is a pleasant surprise .

This Dutch outfit of Rinus v Beers runs between Ireland and the Continent.

MacTaggart Brothers of Castle Douglas, Kirkcubrightshire, the top picture I recognise the layby, it’s on a road between the A9 and Bonar Bridge called “over the Struy” pronounced strooie this load no doubt from the Lairg lamb sales and heading south.

The photograph was take near the promenade at Morecambe , and at that time I was too young to hold a
driving license . If a farmer wanted a cow transporting , then I hitched it up at the FRONT ! Only problem was
finding a return load , `cos the trailer was ■■■■ heavy to pull on its own .
