Hi geepir,
In 1956 I was a bus driver in Kirkcaldy and well remember Wisharts, whose business was largely built on Nairn’s Linoleum. Cork from the harbour to the factory, hessian from the jute mills in Dundee and of course the finished product throughout the UK, after Nairns merger or takeover by Forbo-Krommenie they were doing continental as well.

If u go on to scottish sceen archive website & click on made in Kirkcaldy, you can watch a 25 min film all about the lino production @ nairns mate.

The Ford “D” Series of Yendor Transport Sheffield (Rodney spelt backwards) brings back memories as I’ve had lifts in that very one when on a dodgy.
I remember it trapped on a bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice photos bumper, the stretch of water in the background is the inner part of the Dornoch Firth and the area is called the Kyle of Sutherland. That bridge is very tight for HGVs and needs repairs frequently. A lot of timber is being harvested in the Highlands at the present time, so quite a lot of timber lorry traffic on that road.
