Hiya,
Never worked for Rosser ROF but did call in their yard in the 60s for water a bit cheeky I was
a Red and Ruster at the time and was making for Newport with a water leak problem but the
rather beat up Mercury I was driving didn’t look out of place with some of the stuff in their
yard but to be fair I was just another driver with a problem and they couldn’t have been more
accommodating they even found me an injector pipe and a spanner to fix a blown one and as
far as I know never billed my depot I had to extricate the pipe from a pile of secondhand ones
in the corner of their workshop but found one to get me to Newport.
thanks harry, long retired.

I think they were quite a decent firm, Harry, but the everlasting image in my mind is the sight of ancient Mammoth Majors very slowly emerging from a cloud of slow-moving smoke. I don’t think I ever saw a Prosser’s lorry that wasn’t beaten up and filthy dirty.

Chris:
here’s a photo of a motor I drove regularly when I started with A E Evans…

A man after my own heart Chris, I was always an over-the-top mirror man.

Was that yours, the extra Zanetti?

Very posh,a Zanetti mirror. I wasn’t the regular driver but I was one of the few with a Class One so got to drive it and another similar one very often David.

I’ve just noticed this post on here, it’s the Zanetti mirror on your wagon Chris. I have been trying to locate one of these for the last two months, without success. Do you, or anybody else have any idea where I can get one ? If there’s two, then all the better. If anybody does have one for sale. Cash is waiting.

Hiya,
I’ve seen this Leyland before but where I can’t think.
thanks harry, long retired.

Re. the Jonas Woodhead advert. Their driver who covered Diss wasn’t that one - by a long shot. Seem to remember one of our comedians, up a gantry servicing a fridge reached down and lifted his syrup. Hate to think what he might have got up to with her! Jim.
