Re: the Exonia Fiat- wasn’t that outfit run by a disabled chap? Or does nobody remember this one?
The low-line ERF never went into production, but the show vehicle survived and went to work for the ERF parts department before being sold onto a potato merchant, where it stayed for a number of years. Today its under different ownership and is on the show circuit i beileve.
Chris.

Hi saviemDid you supply Adam Jones with their Saviem ? I know the one my father used had a floor mounted gearlever instead of coloum . and the turbo on it was very loud lool.
Nice motor.Hi Alex,
I may be wrong but it stands a chance that the Saviem you are on about was supplied by Unisant who were in Powke Lane and had the Saviem agency for the area at that time. My Dad was Tpt Manager there at the time and I remember them having a number of Saviem units of their own as well as supplying other local companies like Evans & Monden.
Saviem, if I am wrong please do let me know as I would be interested.
Rich
Hello all, richie747b, and alexbennet, not my strong point of knowledge, but I will have a go! Firstly, I did not know that Roy, John, & Clive, (Adam Jones), had ever run a Saviem! Last lorry they bought from me was a 240 8speed F88, on an M reg, just before I went to France. The model alex remembers sounds, (and did they sound), like a 36.280, the 240DIN hp turbo, 12sp floor change ZF. Now that did not go on sale in the UK untill 75ish, which would have been after the Midland agency swopped, when Saviem UK was formed, based at Ashburton Road East, Trafford Park, to an outfit based in the old Marsh and Baxter transport depot at Brierley Hill. Were they called Falkes, or something like that?? Unisant , must have been one of the early dealers appointed by Nickersons from Scunthorpe, when they had the Concession for the UK,were based along Powke Lane, sort of a little “Industrial Conglomerate”,owning a fairly substantial industrial estate, just down from Sam Andersons “Birmingham” yard, and opposite a plant company if I remember correctly. I think that their salesman had come from selling Guys, for Longton Storage at Stoke on Trent, was hi name Marsh?? I would not be surprised if the 36.280 had come into Roys fleet via a company acquisition, because I think they were absorbing quite a few businesses during the 70s. Or of course it could have been acquired via, “Square deal Neil”, as one of Eagle Truck Sales vehicles!! Did they run it in their full livery? In my opinion one of the best liveries in the UK. Cheerio for now.
Hello Saviem
Sorry for the late reply , but yes the saviem was run in the full jonses livery , if my memory serves me it wasnt in the fleet for long and i dont know why , My father was with jonses for 15yrs and he drove a few wagons for them including the F88 you mention. i also remember a yellow beliet he had on demo .I wish he had more photos from his time there

Hi FLOURPOWER , love the Metal Box Seddon , wonder if it is Worcester based , although not ■■ reg , regards Keith
The Abbey Hill Merc brings back a few memories- the firm’s owner, Roger Bastable, used to divide his time between running the fleet of car transporters and being exceedingly noisy in a rock band. Happy days!
