Hi Carl
I have no problem with you wanting to post the picture of your truck on your thread, the photo would probably have come from the commercial motor or motor transport, these were cuttings I cut out and put into my scrapbooks from when I was a teenager in the late 60’s early 70’s. regards prattman.

Hi thanks Prattman
We bought 6 with consecutive numbers about 1983 & it was one of these. There was a mention in CM but no photos and I never thought any must have been taken. But looking in the windscreen no Operators Licence is showing so must have just been put on road & waiting for discs. Once again thank you for keeping all these years
With best wishes
Carl

Theyre probably from : R.A.C., A.A., Green Flag , National Breakdown , .....in fact they
re the back-up
needed
for those British Leyland marques .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Flourpower, was your pic of the Smiths Foden from a CM roadtest as that lorry was in one around '85-'86 and was one of only two Smiths lorries ever fitted with the Eaton Twin Splitter (and Gardner 270 turbo for that matter). A D reg 8wheeler was bought with a Cat engine (which was deemed better) and thus ended Smiths long relationship with Gardner.
That C reg was driven new by the late Eddie James and was based at Ardley stone quarry. I think it was sold around '94.
Yes it from a old commercial motor cant remember if it was a roadtest cheers keith.
