Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Another selection of early Forest Of Dean Caravans lorries.

Hi deaneerrr,
Cracking old photos m8 :sunglasses: .a mate of mine saw them,he told me his father had the tk brand new., Dtx was the reg.she had a very long caravan spec. Body, his father was in the caravan transport business near Cardiff.
Regards Andrew.

Greta photos of ARC, they had a quarry at Swinburne on the A68, Did a bit of work for them in 90s, They also had an 8 wheeler Foden L, reg I think used to sometimes run out of Moot Law Quarry, which possibley had something to do with ARC, we odd times ran track ballast down to Hexham Rail Treminal,a joint venture Im told North Tyne Road Stone & ARC. Sadley it was a rock bottom rate, in fact not worth doing, so we decided to give it a miss, but there again whats changed rate wise, ? nowt, still a hard game to play with all the rules & regs, Good luck to those that are still trying to make a decent living from it. A couple of pages back, someone mentioned Colletts; Their yard is in Minster Lovell and a lot of their lorries are now in Ag Industries colours, hauling Bradstone blocks. There’s a VJ Collett of Bourton on the Water that’s a Ford dealer, and oreviously were coal merchants based at Bourton station.

Hi Suedehead.-- youre quite right Colletts were a largeish crane hire company based near Lechlade (Filkins) we used to hire from them when ours were busy—.the only lorries would have been for own use transporting jibs and equipment as i remember —toshboy

Talking of Filkins, on the way back towards Carterton there’s an old red lorry chassis cab in a field, possibly a Thorneycroft? There’s also a navvy or crawler crane (can’t tell from a distance) but looks like a 22RB or similar size…
