Hello again lads, great pics and info Paul…well done mate, keep them coming, heres some cuttings again,Cheers Bubbs,
No Bonds pics but a tentative Bonds link…
Sometime in the late eighties Bonds got hold of an old Kew Dodge to restore and show - I was pleased to be involved in it and part of that was trying to track down any info with the hope that it would lead to parts and to help speed up the lengthy process… I think it was at Truckfest that I saw an immaculate blue and red Kew so I went and had a chat to the owner… As a result, a trip to Coventry was organised - the only time I’ve been willing to go there…
…
Thanks to the generous hospitality of a certain Mr Neil Bartlett, his lovely wife Marie and their family, we had a great weekend poking around the yard and generally making a bloody nuisance of ourselves!
Great times Neil. Thank you
1st pic shows Neil’s Kew that was the cause of all the trouble
Last pic shows Neil’s latest addition to the fleet but I’m not sure if it ever got out of the yard!!

Hi Jakey
Yeah, the Dodge’s were definitely bosses motors but to be honest, they made a brilliant tipper from a drivers point of view as well - especially the four wheelers which usually got the crap jobs. Good visibilty, good steering lock and the later ones had far better seats. There was also the advantage of swinging your legs over the gear lever and crashing out for a kip in no time at all… hearsay obviously, I would never do such a thing!!
Plenty more Bonds pics to show but we’ll have a few days off first…
A few ancient Truckfest photos now - about '91 I think…
Weren’t Truckfests of old much better than modern day ones? Probably due to the fact there were more manufacturers back then.

I did find it to be friendlier with a lot more atmosphere and camaraderie - I stopped going when I felt it had lost that. Bit like the job really I guess
I haven’t been for years though so it may have changed. I know a lot of people enjoy it, especially for the social side so I’m not going to knock it…if I don’t like something I tend to not do it anymore

I haven’t done a Truckfest in nearly 10 years, I prefer steam rallies and go to the local ones around here. Except this year, when Bloxham, Ducklington and Fairford were all cancelled. Too busy for Gaydon but all seems fine for the Retro Show. Hopefully.
I suppose I should mention that these photo’s are from Truckfest South West, for those that haven’t guessed

Some time ago, I was lucky enough to gain access to Smiths of Hanham’s yard. Long gone now and, as is the way now, the yard is built on
Not very good pics taken with a not very good camera by a not very good photographer, so apologies in advance…
Some of the regs were familiar - DYA 910T I’m guessing is ex Wincanton. I think 'TT and 'FJ are both devonish - does anyone know the original owners?
