So this is old photo from Cert Warrington this was our shuntter that the Transport Manager got i think from somewhere in the South . Anyone got any info on it , it still has its reg plates on it
I remember Leggett Freightways owning ALO43xY SA401s. Can’t quite make out the number of this one.
mrken:
A few more I sorted this morning.
This was a bit optimistic an ‘L’ reg Scania 111■■? I had the sister reg’d Scania MUC273L ex Molo/Spurling’s which was a day cab 110 with a 5 speed gearbox!

mrken:
I also had the sister to this Scania111 bought off Ted Roberts at Scantruck Purfleet it was an ex Geo Cooper’s of Manningtree.
I traded it in when I bought my only ever new Scania a 1982 142 388 bhp KOW496Y here they are at the changeover at Morville Trucks Lutterworth.
Same Pat I bought her of Scantrucks in 1982 it was £11000 and came off of Pro Motors about 3 weeks later iI pinched myself and thought ■■■■ me what have I done lol
Is that Mrs Merton driving that?
“Ribbed condoms? Very thoughtful.”
Cab needs a bit of polish lol

At that length the FM at Parkestone Quay must be a dock shunter, Whiplash.Reminds me of what I think the Yanks or Canucks call a camel - an extra load space on the tractor which in some extreme cases, like long distance removals, becomes a super living space.
it’s a Swedish unit with a drom box on it, additional loading space, still see a few of these around, surprising to see it in England though, not sure why it would come over, unless it was tipping in the docks then heading straight back.
That’s it DC, a Drom box (Dromedary). I was close though, Camel.
I bought this LHD Scania 141 ages ago from a man call Bill Tottingham from Edinburgh
Wheel Nut:
saw a bin lifter around Thurrock the other week with their name on - seem to remember from being a kid that the owner (Richie) was a stock car racer but was killed - anyone please? sorry to go slightly off thread Marcus
Hi again lads, great photos from Kenny…amazing pics of your motors mate and the others from your collection,Good stuff from Pat,you had some interesting stuff in your yard the day I popped in to get the Astran 111,I’d spotted it from the M27 and as I was off to Netley Marsh that weekend I was pleased to see it still parked in your yard…by the way,you sold WHJ194S on as it was turned into a recovery lorry after…more useless info
Todays stuff.
Not one of my pics,Ade Cypher caught this “B” series ERF of Caerphilly Van Hire heading into Dover down Jubilee Way.
Another “B” series, this time an 8 wheel tipper of Paul Maggs.
Turning into an ERF posting this, never mind…This EC of Steve Lyons was taken by my good pal Clive Davis.
Another one of Clives pics…Good photographer, actually taken through the windscreen while having a 45 minute break.
Back to my stuff on the M4,heres an M.A.N Roadhouse of Mike Leach’s.
Alan Prices Merc on the M4…he’s done well since he left the Animals
Cheers Bubbs,
Phil those old Scammell trailers were used right up until the 70s and boy were they a solid piece of kit I know that a piece that was supposed to be around 30 tons turned out to be 46 tons and looking at the trailer it did not look any different to when it had only 30 tons on.The piece was a press frame which was hand loaded but craned off which is when the true weight was discovered and it was only moved just less than 1 mile.
cheers Johnnie

Hi jj yes you are correct I think it was at Coventry where Richie had his accident there was another guy from the Essex area Bobbie Burns as well and they could have been mates as I think Bobbie cut back his racing after this
cheers Johnnie
P S apologies Marc for going off thread
