Hi again,The T.Alun Jones 142 was a bit special so the chap who was there said, they built it themselves from their old stuff that was in their fleet, basically making the vehicle for their operation utillising exsisting equipment at a fraction of the cost of buying new.
Todays stuff.
S&K have been pretty well covered over on the Welsh thread, but heres an old F88 I took years ago when they weren’t so big as they are now.
Daintons were from down Devon way,its seen here travelling on the M4.
R.A.Giles were coal merchants as well as a general haulier, the trailer looks like an extra axle has been shoved in to bring up the carrying capacity when the weights went up to 38 tons.
P&Os M.A.N is seen westbound on the M4,its got one of those dreaded open top boxes on its back.
M4 again and Ronnie Evans Merc Actroucios is seen with a decent load of scrap in the trailer.
Hope these are of interest.
Cheers Bubbs,

If that Leyland of Ron Giles is the only one he had, a mate of mine ran out of road with it between Stow and Buford with a load of coal on, think it was the end of the old girl.
As promised, Mark. Here is some of the oddballs and the shunters that never shunted.
Cracking photos there Ken. Particularly like the old Foden, where did you find that old girl?
Got that from a chap I knew who used to rebuild airport tenders. It was based at Prestwick airport and to be honest was one of the hardest we had ever restored as everything was heavy heavy duty and it had a design weight of about 65ton
we got it home and the engine was siezed and it had a low diff and just 4 speed box and a top speed of 18mph and the cab had windows in the roof the wiring was a night mare and to be honest just a wreck. But it had a great cab on it and 1300x20 tyres and rear underslung springs like railway lines.
I took pictures of it in each stage like we did all the restored ones and we gave it a engine rebuild put a 12 speed in it from a s83 and a diff out off a 8 wheeler rewired it then a sheet rack and head lining out of a crusader a B series ERF visor
made up the bumber a sed atki air filter and she came out quite nice.Only problem with it it was to high geared can remember one Sunday bringing it back from Crick show with a 20ft box on sitting in the centre lane off the MI and the paddys on there way to Dover just looking thinking wtf was that lol.
Great photos mrken keep um coming!

Hello again,Heres a refreshing change from my boring motorway shots,Retriever has sent me some old milk lorries to put on the scrapbook especially for John (Stanfield).
Ok ,No info on these pics but,how many of you can remember these old Thames…I was a little boy when my Dad drove one,I used to sit on the battery box between the 2 front seats when Mum was with us and Dad would let me lift the lever on the floor to start the engine.Another memory was the sheet would be chucked on top the cab when loading and as it was heavy the roof dented,in fact it was dish shaped. This would collect rainwater and the inevitable happened…it split…and on the passenger side,so I would be treated to an unexpected wash if it ■■■■■■ down .I would stick chewing gum in the hole(these things didnt come with a headlining) but that didnt work .Ok enough of my rambling heres the pics
Thanks again to Retiever.
Cheers Bubbs,
