Bet those loads never got pilfered or sampled anywhere ! i heard a tale once about that lorry having gun ports but i suspect that was just another drivers tall tale.

no i’m sure the clipping from CM back at the time mentions them too - think it’s on here somewhere?
There is a description of this lorry in one of the books. It is an LB110 and there are gun ports. You can see them beneath the 'screen and behind the doors. Ominously, the one below the passenger side is open! It also mentions that the standard air vents have been plated over to prevent gas attacks, so maybe the gun ports had a second purpose, although the book gives the air-vent blocking as the reason for the fitting of the aircon unit.
Roy Harknet ex W M Woods driver drove for them in Europe but I’m sure he had a Transcon,…… and I can’t see him going for gun ports.

Dear O Lord gun ports indeed
They were the 10 franc note ports that were needed when arriving in French channel ports, as they could not exit the vehicle they poked the 10 franc note out of the port to be grabbed by the greedy custom shysters who would then not stamp the permit.
